The Duster which plays a pivotal role in Renault India’s product portfolio has finally received its long overdue facelift. The new Duster comes with a handful of exterior and interior updates to lend a more desirable feel. It comes equipped with 25 brand new features and technology enhancements, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto infotainment with voice recognition and EcoGuide along with safety features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill-Start Assist, Renaut India said in a statement. Here are four things that you should know about the new Renault Duster facelift.
Revised Exterior Styling
The 2019 Duster gets a new tri-winged full chrome grille, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, new dual tone body colour front bumper, Kayak roof rails, body coloured ORVM, matte black tailgate embellisher and R16 Everest Diamond Cut alloy wheels. The 2019 edition offers two new exterior body colour options – Caspian Blue and Mahogany Brown.
The 2019 Duster gets a standard ground clearance of 205 mm and about 210 mm in the top-end AWD variant along with high approach and departure angles.
Updated Interiors
Inside, the 2019 Duster gets a completely new look and feel. The midnight black interiors, blue glazed seats, new steering wheel with soft touch buttons, dual tone centre fascia with a soft-touch dashboard and door trims, and the ice blue graphic instrument cluster with multi-information display lend the new Duster a sophisticated feel.
The Duster now also gets a new 17.64 cm touchscreen MediaNAV system that comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice recognition and EcoGuide - a system that monitors driving patterns and provides guidelines to improve fuel efficiency. It also comes equipped with a fully automatic climate control system and an illuminated and cooled glovebox.
Enhanced Safety Features
The new Duster is compliant with BNCAP front, side & pedestrian crash norms and is compliant with safety features stipulated by the Indian authorities. It is equipped with a host of active and passive safety features like Antilock-Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), driver and passenger airbags, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder & speed alert. All these safety features are standard across all versions of the new Renault Duster. Features such as Reverse Parking Camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill-Start Assist enhance the SUV capability of Duster.
The Drivetrain
The Duster is available in nine versions with five engine-gearbox combinations. Renault Duster offers the widest range with Petrol CVT, Diesel AMT and Diesel AWD options. Mechanically, the new Duster continues to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which makes 104 BHP and 142 NM, and the 1.5-litre diesel engine which offers a choice of two power outputs: 108 BHP and 83 BHP with a torque of 245 Nm and 200 Nm respectively. The powerful 108hp variant has a 6-speed manual transmission and the 83 hp version features a 5-speed manual transmission.
