The BS6 avatar of the Datsun Redi-Go has finally been launched in the Indian market. The 2020 Datsun Redi-Go receives cosmetic updates that give it a bolder, fresher look. While the starting price remains unchanged from that of the BS 4 version at INR. 2.83 lakhs (Ex-showroom, India), there is a price hike of upto INR 54,000 in higher trim levels. The price of the highest trim level tops out at INR 4.77 Lakhs ex-showroom. Datsun has also discontinued the top-end S trim, and the tall-boy hatchback is now available in D, A, T, T(O) and T(O) AMT trims only.
The facelift gets cosmetic upgrades. Upfront, a deeper and bigger honeycomb grille takes center stage and also receives a chrome accent. Also new, are the ‘L’ shaped design of the LED DRLs with a fog lamp at the end of it. The bumper and headlamps also get revisions in design. Although the side profile remains the same, the rear gets new LED tail lamps.
On the inside, interiors have received an update in terms of features. The dashboard has been redesigned and looks a bit more upmarket. It also gets a new touchscreen infotainment screen, instrument cluster and a new steering wheel. Even the knobs for air-con have been redesigned. Other upgrades include safety features like dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera and sensors.
The BS6 Datsun Redi-Go is still offered with two engine options. The first one is an 800-cc, petrol engine that generates 54 PS and 72 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. Second, is a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 68 PS and 91 Nm of torque. The 1.0 litre engine is available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearboxes. Both engines are now BS6 compliant.
The new Redi-Go is available with a choice between the following five colour options - Vivid Blue, Fire Red, Blade Silver, Sandstone Brown and Opal White.
