SsangYong has released a teaser image of its first all-electric model, an SUV codenamed the E100 which is based on the carmaker’s Tivoli SUV. The first teasers of the all-electric SUV that is to come out next year contain pictures that reveal its exterior design of the vehicle.

From the image, the EV appears to be similar to the Mahindra eXUV300 electric SUV concept that was showcased earlier this year at the 2020 Auto expo in India. The similarities between the E100 and the eXUV300 concept are quite evident from the teaser image with the only major difference on SsangYong’s E100 being the tweaked closed-off grille, headlight, and fog light design.

Ssangyong says the SUV’s design is inspired by nature, and particularly animals that have adapted to their environment through evolution such as a shark’s fins and the form of scales to reduce water and wind resistance, thus displaying a design maturity with a dynamic style.

Ssangyong’s first electric vehicle launches in the first half of 2021 in the global market, promising “a new level of product quality.” The E100 is regarded as the most important product launch for the financially troubled auto company in recent years.
