The Nissan Sunny goes way back and has been one of the top choices for sedans in Nepal next to the Toyota Corolla. However, as the compact SUVs started taking over the market here in Nepal as well as the entire world, the sedan has received way less attention that it should have. The Japanese manufacturer has now unveiled the newest Sunny sedan and by the pictures, we can say that this new Sunny will re-ignite the love for sedans once more. Known as “Versa” and “Almera” in the international market, this new Sunny is based on Nissan’s updated V platform and shares its cabin with the Nissan Kicks.

The new Sunny takes much inspiration from its international cousins, the Nissan Altima, and Lannia sedans. At the front, it is fitted with Nissan’s signature V-shaped front grille that we have seen in the Nissan X-Trail and the Nissan Kicks. The headlights are slimmer and more angular making it a drastic update over the boring looking predecessor. The sides get a sharp character line, floating roof and new alloys adding more to the modern styling of the Sunny. Over on the back, the Nissan Sunny gets a redesigned tail with what looks like a faux diffuser and a lip spoiler to add more sport points to the sedan.

The cabin of the new Nissan Sunny is almost identical to the Nissan Kicks SUV. There’s a large ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system in the center console, below which are the HVAC controls. Also borrowed from the Kicks is the steering wheel and the soft-touch leather inserts on the dashboard. Powering the new Nissan Sunny is 1.6-liter petrol mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT that makes 124 bhp, while a diesel engine is also to be provided. The same engine does duty on the international spec of the Nissan Kicks SUV. The next generation Nissan Sunny will rival Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and Suzuki Ciaz.
