Maruti Suzuki has launched the all-new Celerio in the Indian market at a starting price of INR 4.99 Lakh and going up to INR 6.94 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Maruti Suzuki claims the new Celerio to be the ‘most fuel-efficient petrol car’ to be available in India. The Celerio could deliver up to 26 kmpl of mileage, claims the company.
The new Celerio will be underpinned by Suzuki’s Heartect platform that also underpins the current WagonR. The new Celerio gets a rounded design language highlighted by rounded headlamps, a larger glasshouse and a tapering roofline. The front fascia sports an all-new radiant grill with sharp chrome accents combined with a new headlamp that gives it a signature look.
Powering the new Celerio is a new K10C DualJet 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67 hp and 89 Nm of torque. The engine also gets an idle start/stop system. The engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Inside, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio, newly designed AC vents, and a spacious cabin. The new Celerio also gets electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls and more. On the safety front, the new Celerio gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed-sensitive door lock and even hill-hold assist for the automatic variants.
The new Celerio is bigger than the outgoing model. It measures 3,695mm in length, 1,655mm in width, 1,555mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,435mm. Also, the new model is 55mm wider, while the wheelbase is 10mm longer. The new Celerio’s ground clearance stands at 170mm, 5mm higher than before. The new Celerio will be available in 6 monotone colour options – Arctic White, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Solid Fire Red, Speedy Blue and Caffeine Brown. Customization options are also being offered.
