The highly anticipated Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is set to enter the Nepalese market soon. Though arriving later than some competitors, its success in India speaks for itself, having captured a 25% market share in the electric two-wheeler segment. It was the No. 1 electric two-wheeler OEM in both February 2025 and December 2024 and continues to maintain its lead.
Known for its durable metal frame and advanced features, the Bajaj Chetak will be available in the 3501 variant in our market. The 3501 variant features a 3.5 kWh battery with a 153km range and a TFT touchscreen console with Bluetooth. Standard features include reverse mode, self-cancelling blinkers, auto hazard lights, and call controls. The TecPac adds music control, hill hold, sequential blinkers, Guide Me Home lights, and display themes, while the Annual Data pack unlocks navigation, remote immobilization, speed alerts, trip analytics, document storage, and geo-fencing. It comes with a 950W charger that charges 0-80% in 3 hours and offers 35L of underseat storage.
Positioned against competitors like the TVS iQube and other 125cc scooters, the Bajaj Chetak aims to carve its space in Nepal’s growing electric scooter market. While sources indicate it will be competitively priced, its success will heavily depend on whether Bajaj can position it in line with petrol-powered scooters.
Given that electric scooters are typically priced higher, bringing the Chetak's pricing closer to ICE scooters will be crucial in securing a strong market share. With its strong brand recognition and success in India, the Bajaj Chetak has the potential to make a significant impact in Nepal, provided its pricing strategy aligns with consumer expectations.
