In the AOP test, the passenger compartment of the ATTO 3 remained stable in the frontal offset test demonstrating good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. BYD showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions.
In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good or adequate, for the dummies in the driver and rear passenger seats. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the car scored maximum points. However, in the more severe side pole impact, protection of the chest was rated as weak, based on measured values of rib compression.
In the COP test, both the frontal offset test and the side barrier impact, protection of all critical body areas was good for both child dummies, and the Atto 3 scored maximum points in this part of the assessment.
Similarly, the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system of the ATTO 3 can respond to vulnerable road users, as well as to other vehicles. The system performed well in tests of its response to pedestrians and cyclists, with collisions avoided in most scenarios. The AEB system performed well in tests of its reaction to other vehicles.
BYD Atto 3 continues the run of success for Chinese brands in Euro NCAP, following similar results for Great Wall Motors' WEY and ORA in the last publication.
