The BYD Sea Lion 07, BYD's new midsize SUV, has been showcased at the NADA Auto Show 2024. Built on the updated e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sea Lion 07 joins BYD's Ocean series with a host of fresh features.
Although it resembles the BYD Seal sedan, the Sea Lion 07 stands out with several innovative upgrades. The e-Platform 3.0 Evo brings a major leap forward from the previous version, enhancing powertrain integration and charging efficiency.
In China, the Sea Lion 07 offers three different powertrains. Two-wheel-drive models come with either a 230 kW or 170 kW electric motor, while the four-wheel-drive variant uses two motors with 160 kW and 230 kW outputs.
The single-motor options have ranges of 550 km or 610 km, while the dual-motor version provides a range of 550 km. The vehicle boasts a maximum torque of 690 Nm, with acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds for the single-motor model and 4.5 seconds for the dual-motor model. The battery options are 71.8 kWh and 80.64 kWh.
The SUV's dimensions are 4830 mm in length, 1925 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2930 mm. It offers a 58-liter frunk and a 500-liter boot.
Inside, it boasts a flat-bottomed, four-spoke steering wheel, a crystal gear selector, physical controls for essential functions, a 50-inch AR-HUD, and a 15.6-inch central screen.
For safety, it comes with 11 airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and driver monitoring assistance. The Sea Lion 07 also debuts BYD’s DiPilot 100 “God’s Eye” ADAS, featuring 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 mm-wave radars, and 11 cameras for advanced L2 driver assistance. This includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, traffic sign recognition, and intelligent speed control.
