The CPCA reported a total of 21.7 million new cars sold in the Chinese market in 2023, marking a 5.6% increase from the previous year. During this period, BYD sold 2.571 million cars, with Changan following closely as the second most prolific Chinese auto brand.

Despite a 5% growth in the Chinese car market, fueled by the rise of electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) cars dipped by 6.1%. However, the EV and PHEV market experienced a significant surge of 36.5%, now constituting 35.7% of the Chinese market.

Changan has consistently ranked among China's top three automakers for the past twenty years. Over the last three years, its sales have notably excelled, not only domestically but also in international markets.

In 2021, Changan sold 2.3 million vehicles, driven by strong domestic demand and the onset of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) era. The following year, it maintained momentum, selling 2.35 million cars and achieving a remarkable year-on-year growth of 41.1%. Changan's expansion into the export market became increasingly evident during this period.

In 2023, Changan's sales peaked at 2.55 million, marking an 8.8% increase from the previous year. Notably, electric vehicle sales soared to 474,000 units, a staggering 74.8% rise from the year prior.

Changan's strategic decision to venture into international markets, particularly Southeast Asia and Europe, played a pivotal role in its success. Its entry into Thailand in 2023 aligns with its overarching strategies, "Mission Shangri-la" and "Vast Ocean Plan."

Furthermore, collaborations with technology giants such as Huawei and NIO have bolstered Changan's technical prowess and market penetration. These partnerships have propelled advancements in intelligent driving systems and battery-swapping technology.

Continuing its commitment to innovation, Changan plans to introduce eight new NEVs in the current fiscal year, with an aim to produce and sell 2.65 million cars through diversified channels.

Moreover, Changan's official distributor in Nepal, MAW Vriddhi, recently unveiled the Deepal ES7 EV, featuring more than 15 segment-first features in our market, and has quickly gained popularity among consumers.
