Changan's Nevo E07, the SUV that Transforms into a Pickup, Launched in China

Nevo, a sub-brand of the Chinese automotive leader Changan Automobile, has introduced the E07, a versatile SUV that can transform into a pickup truck, with a starting price of $28,100. Changan claims the Nevo E07 is the first mass-produced SUV with such transformer capabilities.

Constructed on Changan’s SDA (Super DNA) platform, the Nevo E07 features an all-aluminum alloy chassis and a unique dual-mode system that allows users to switch seamlessly between SUV and pickup configurations. Essentially, it takes the form of an elongated SUV coupe with a low beltline and an electrically retractable trunk cover.

The dimensions of the Nevo E07 are 5045 mm in length, 1996 mm in width, and 1640 mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 3120 mm. Despite its impressive size, it provides seating for only two rows. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with air suspension and a continuous damping system.

The Changan Nevo E07 comes with both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrain options. The EREV variant features a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 105 kW (141 hp).

The entry-level all-electric version includes a single rear e-motor generating 231 kW (310 hp). The 4WD variant adds an electric motor on the front axle, providing an extra 131 kW (176 hp). Its battery capacity stands at 39.05 kWh, delivering a range of 185 to 200 km according to CLTC standards.

The base all-electric Nevo E07 is powered by a single rear e-motor with 252 kW (338 hp), while the 4WD model achieves a total output of 440 kW (590 hp), allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.96 seconds. Battery options of 70 and 90 kWh enable a range of 551 to 701 km on the CLTC cycle.

For safety, the Nevo E07 features Changan’s self-developed intelligent driving assistance system, which incorporates 11 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and two lidars.

The front seating includes dual zero-gravity features with multiple electric adjustments. The cockpit is equipped with a 15.4-inch central control display, a ceiling entertainment screen, an AR-HUD, an 18-speaker audio system, and ambient lighting with 256 color options.
