Citroen C5 Aircross Premium SUV Officially Revealed In India

French carmaker Citroen (pronounced See-tro-en) has officially revealed the C5 Aircross premium SUV in the Indian market. The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV will be the first product for the Indian market and the French automaker will introduce other products subsequently. The C5 Aircross premium SUV will be launched in two variants, Feel and Shine, this March. The C5 Aircross is expected to priced around INR 30 Lakh and will take on the like of Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, etc.The C5 Aircross is based on Groupe PSA’s EMP2 platform. The SUV measures 4,500mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,670mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,730mm. It has a ground clearance of 230mm and a turning radius of 5.35 meters. Under the hood, the C5 Aircross features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which delivers 177PS and 400 NM of torque and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.  Also available are drive modes and a Grip Control system: Standard, Snow, All Terrain, Sand, and Traction Control Off. Citroen claims a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl.Backed by its funky design and an assortment of comfort and convenience features, the C5 Aircross SUV features a  Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system that absorbs uneven bumps on the roads for high-level comfort what the French carmaker terms as 'the flying carpet effect', and a double-limited window that eliminates the outside noises to offer a low NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) level. Safety features include front, side, and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, a reverse camera, disc brakes for all four wheels, a blind-spot monitoring system, an electronic parking brake, and active park assist.The C5 Aircross SUV features an 8-inch infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, air purifier, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and park assist. There's plenty to talk about the styling too. The SUV gets dual-beam LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a split front grille, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, an upright rear end, and split LED tail lamps. The SUV also offers a boot space of 580 litres which is expandable up to 1630 litres. The C5 Aircross has a 52.5-litre fuel tank, and it will be available in a total of four colours, with a contrast roof available as an option.Citroen India has revealed the C5 Aircross – which is being locally assembled – will have over 90 percent of local content, and its powertrain and axles will also be made in India. Citroen will sell the C5 Aircross in India through its La Maison Citroen showrooms. The French carmaker plans to introduce 10-15 such outlets in the first phase.Citroen is expected to debut sometime this year in the Nepalese market, too. Shangrila Motors Private Limited, was appointed the authorized distributor of Citroen brand vehicles for Nepal in December 2020.
