The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, which made its debut in India on December 18, 1999, has now marked 25 years in the Indian automotive market. The Wagon R has also been the best-selling car in the country for the last three consecutive years.
According to Maruti Suzuki, over 3.2 million units of the Wagon R have been sold in these 25 years. The model is currently in its third generation in India. When it was first launched, the Wagon R, known for its 'Tall Boy' design, quickly established its niche with the unique selling point of being a highly spacious family car.
The Wagon R offers a wide range of variants, powered by two K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine options: a 1.2L and a 1.0L engine. Buyers can choose between a manual or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) transmission. The Wagon R was also one of the pioneers in India to offer a factory-fitted CNG option, and the Wagon R S-CNG has become the country’s top-selling CNG vehicle, with over 660,000 units sold to date.
The third-generation Wagon R comes equipped with a host of premium features, including a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice commands.
Built on the fifth-generation Heartect platform, the Wagon R also boasts a comprehensive set of safety features, such as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
In Nepal, the Wagon R is available in five variants, with prices ranging from Rs 31,59,000 to Rs 35,29,000.
