Royal Enfield has unveiled the SG 650 Concept at EICMA 2021. The near-production prototype of the motorcycle previews the company's upcoming 650cc cruiser for India. Few test mules of the 650cc have been already spotted in the past for many months. The new 650cc bike is expected to go on sale sometime in the first half of the new year.
The SG650 concept boasts a completely new styling. It gets a circular headlamp with integrated position lights, a flat and wide handlebar, chrome-finished bar-end mirrors, fat wheels and mid-mounted footpegs for a drag-style riding posture. The concept machine's bulbous fuel tank with the RE logo in blue, chopped rear fender, dual exhaust pipes, USD forks (first for RE) and blacked-out engine casing are other elements of the bike. The tank and rims have been CNC billet machined from a solid block of aluminium.
As for the engine and performance, the production-ready version of the SG 650 concept will continue to be powered by the 648 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine developing a maximum power output of just over 47 PS and 52 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain will be linked with a six-speed transmission with a slipper and assist clutch as standard as in the 650 Twins.
