Proton X50 has been spotted in the streets of Kathmandu. The Proton X50 is the newest addition from the Malaysian carmakers in Nepal and it competes with the likes of Kia Seltos, Toyota Raize, and Hyundai Creta. Jagdamba motors, a subsidiary of Shanker Group, is the official distributor for Proton Cars in Nepal. The Proton X50 will sit alongside the Saga sedan, and their X70 SUV in the company’s line-up in the Nepalese market and is expected to range from Rs. 65 Lakh to Rs. 85 Lakh.According to our sources, the Proton X50 comes in 4 variants. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder, and a TGDi (Direct Injection) turbocharged three-cylinder petrol in the top flagship variant. The engines are stated to produce 150 PS of Maximum Power and 226 NM of torque with the TGDi engine upping the numbers to 130PS of power and 255 Nm of torque. It also features a 7-speed DCT transmission both of which is co-developed by Volvo and Geely.
The Proton X50 that was seen on the roads of Kathmandu comes with loads of features including an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which is only found in few selected premium brands.
