Harley-Davidson has joined hands with Hero MotoCorp in the Indian market. Issuing a press statement, Hero MotoCorp has officially confirmed that it will be offering sales and service support for Harley-Davidson motorcycles in India. These actions are aligned with Harley-Davidson’s business overhaul, and the company’s announcement in September to change its business model in India.Per a distribution agreement, Hero Motocorp will sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and sell parts, accessories, general merchandises, riding gear, and apparel through a network of brand-exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers and Hero's existing dealership network in India. The press release also states that Hero MotoCorp will develop and sell a range of premium motorcycles under the Harley-Davidson brand name. This is by far the most exciting part of the announcement, much like the collaboration TVS has with BMW Motorrad, or the alliance between Bajaj and Triumph motorcycles. This arrangement is mutually beneficial for both companies and riders in India, as it brings together the iconic Harley-Davidson brand with the strong distribution network and customer service of Hero MotoCorp, further states the release.Earlier this year, Harley-Davidson joined forces with Benelli motorcycle’s parent company Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle to foray into the small-displacement segment with their own offering - the HD338. The HD338 which is based on Benelli's 302S is Harley Davidson's intentions of entering the sub 350cc market.
