Husqvarna has previewed the E-Pilen concept, the Swedish brand's first fully electric motorcycle. The E-Pilen concept has 11 bhp on tap, a riding range of 100 km/charge, and a swappable battery. The E-Pilen concept is an electric motorcycle that is expected to go into production later this year.
The E-Pilen concept is quite similar to the brand’s Svartpilen and Vitpilen motorcycles. The E-Pilen gets wide handlebars, a round headlamp, a compact tank, and an exposed trellis frame. The fuel tank area actually houses the electric battery.
In terms of power, performance, and range, the E-Pilen will not disappoint. The latest E-Pilen would have an electric powertrain with an output of 8 kW, according to Husqvarna (or 11 BHP). On a single charge, the bike is said to have a range of 100 kilometers. Because of the compact battery, the E-Pilen is mostly intended for city riders rather than long-distance cruisers. Husqvarna has not yet revealed the precise specifications of the battery on sale. Although with the reduced range, there will be no problem because the E-use Pilen's of swappable batteries will eliminate the range concern.
KTM, along with Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio, is part of a group working on standard specifications for swappable electric motorcycle batteries, so that different manufacturers can use the same packs, extending their availability.
