Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the N Line edition of the i20, a sportier version of the i20 hatchback, becoming the first N Line model to hit the Indian market. Although the i20 N Line debuts Hyundai's N performance brand in India, it must be noted that India-spec N Line models only get sportier and cosmetic upgrades and not the mechanical updates associated with other performance-oriented Hyundai N cars.
The Hyundai i20 N Line gets Hyundai motorsport inspires styling cues. The i20 N Line gets a sportier cosmetic job on the outside. At the front, it gets a sportier dual-tone front bumper with deep-set fog lamp housing and sporty red accents, a 'chequered flag' inspired grille design, a front splitter, and N Line logo. Other major highlights of the i20 N Line include new dual-tone 16-inch alloys, faux diffuser at the rear bumper, dual exhaust tailpipe, gloss black inserts on the air scoop, sporty colour options with a contrasting roof colour.
On the inside too, the i20 N Line gets sporty cosmetic highlights like sporty metal pedals, a bespoke three-spoke steering wheel, N-branded leather gear knob, bucket-style front seats, and an all-black interior with red highlights and red ambient lighting. The i20 N Line carries over all the equipment and features from the standard i20. It continues to be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, cruise control, a single-pane sunroof, and a 7-speaker Bose sound system, etc.
The India-spec Hyundai i20 N Line will be offered in two different trim levels, N6 and N8, and a single-engine option- a 3-cylinder 1.0-litre GDI turbo petrol motor that makes 118 hp and 172 Nm of torque. The N6 trim will come along with only a 6-speed iMT gearbox while the N8 trim will be available with both iMT and a 7-speed DCT auto gearbox with paddle shifters. There is no manual transmission on offer. Although the drivetrain remains unchanged from the standard i20, it does get a sportier exhaust note and weightier steering.
Safety features on the Hyundai i20 N Line include 6 airbags, TPMS, rear-view parking camera, automatic headlamps, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSC), hill assist control (HAC) and more. The car also gets disc brakes at all four wheels, for better-stopping power.Hyundai Motor India hasn’t revealed the exact price of the i20 N Line as of now. With the launch expected in September, pricing is expected to cost around INR 1 Lakh-1.5 Lakh higher than the standard trims of the i20.
