Nepal-Bound Hyundai Ioniq 5 Shortlisted For European Car Of The Year 2022 Award

Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been shortlisted for the prestigious European Car of the Year (COTY) 2022. Hyundai Motor’s fully electric midsize CUV is one of seven nominees in the running to win the award. A final voting round will take place at the end of February, and the winning car will be announced on Monday, 28 February in Geneva.The Nepal-bound Hyundai Ioniq 5 was selected among 39 models nominated for the COTY 2022 and will compete against six other vehicles to win overall. This nomination caps a successful year for the first model of Hyundai’s new Ioniq line-up brand. Ioniq 5 was recently named 2022 German Car of the Year, just half a year after its launch.“This latest award nomination, for such an internationally recognised body as COTY, further underlines that IONIQ 5 is an exceptional and innovative battery electric vehicle that stands out in a competitive field,” says Michael Cole, President and CEO at Hyundai Motor Europe.Ioniq 5 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), Hyundai Motor Group’s platform dedicated to BEVs. Customers can select between two battery pack options – 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh – and all-wheel or rear-wheel drive. The rear-wheel-drive and 72.6-kWh version feature a maximum driving range of 481 kilometres on a single charge, according to WLTP.Ioniq 5 delivers a powerful performance and ultra-fast charging. Thanks to its 800V charging technology, both battery pack options can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes at fast-charging stations. Customers can use the Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology to power and charge any electronic device while driving or parked, such as laptops or e-scooters.
