An interaction program was held between National Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Mobility (NASA Foundation Nepal) and Auto Journalists Association (JAAM Nepal) in the capital recently. During the program, both NASA Foundation and JAAM Nepal agreed to cooperate on the areas of road safety, helmet safety, and motorsports.
Speaking on the occasion, President of JAAM Nepal Ujjwal Jung Shah said that the research done by NASA Foundation will be highlighted in the media and JAAM Nepal will cooperate with NASA to further disseminate information from now onwards. JAAM Nepal also extended its congratulations to Govinda Bhattarai, who was elected to the new working committee from Region 2 by representing Nepal in FIA’s convention. The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the governing body for world motorsport and the federation of the world’s leading mobility organisations. It brings together 245 member organisations from 146 countries on five continents. Its member clubs represent over 80 million road users and their families.
NASA’s Advisor Govinda Bhattarai briefed about the international norms in road safety and highlighted the situation in Nepal. Similarly, Sagar Gajurel, General Secretary of JAAM Nepal, stressed that the work done by NASA Foundation should not be limited to closed rooms and such works should be brought through the media.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwati Sedhai, Associate Professor of Padma Kanya Campus, said that everyone should understand the various aspects of road safety seriously and practice the use of wearing a proper helmet. She added that proper use of a helmet can reduce death risk by 40 percent and head injury risk by 70 percent. She further added that people who can afford a two-wheeler should not be stingy in buying good helmets.
