Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Spied In Full Ahead Of Global Reveal

The production model of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has been spotted undergoing the final round of tests in North India. Slated to be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023, the Jimny 5-door will be based on the 3-door Jimny which will be sold globally.As seen in the picture, the Jimny 5-door gets a longer wheelbase, two more doors and a bigger bodyshell than its 3-door sibling. Key details include a sliding rear window, a fixed third window, chunky wheel arches, flap-type door handles, alloy wheels and black bumpers.The Jimny 5-door will be sub-four metre in length. It will measure 3,850mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,730mm in height. It will have a wheelbase of 2,550mm, a 300mm increase over the 3-door Jimny which has a wheelbase of 2,250mm. The Jimny 5-door will have a 210mm ground clearance and will weigh 1,190kg, 100kg more than the three-door version.Key details emerging from the new spyshot include a sliding rear window, a fixed third window, chunky wheel arches, flap-type door handles, alloy wheels and black bumpers. On the inside, the Jimny will accommodate 5 adults, two at front on captain seats, and three on the rear on a bench seat.The Jimny 5-door will come with a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that will develop around 102 bhp of power and 137 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter engine will be similar to the one in the Vitara Brezza, but tuned to give a bit more torque. Gearbox options will include a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque converter automatic. There are also talks of the updated Jimny getting a turbo-charging, mild-hybrid powertrain.The Jimny 5-door is expected to see its market launch in India by mid-2023.
