As the launch of the MG Gloster SUV in India draws close, more and more leaks have been appearing online and the latest one reveals the Gloster's cabin in its full glory. The Gloster is based on the Maxus D90 sold in China and other markets and just like the exterior, the interior also looks pretty much identical to the D90.
Going by the pictures, the Gloster gets a dual-tone color scheme, combining black with tan leather upholstery. The upper half of the Gloster’s dashboard also sports a tan leather finish and brushed aluminum trim, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen placed above the central AC vents and manual controls for the climate control system. Also visible is a yacht-style gear selector for the automatic transmission, paddle shifters, an electronic parking brake, a full-digital instrument screen, and a drive mode selector.
The tan leather upholstery features a diamond quilt pattern, and the middle row passengers in the MG Gloster will get captain seats and a rear AC vent with dedicated controls. A bench seat for the third row confirms the MG Gloster will be offered in a 7-seat form.
Powering the car will be a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission that makes 224 PS of peak power and 360Nm of peak torque. There is also a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission that makes 217 PS and 480 Nm.
The MG Gloster will go up against the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner, although, the company is pitching it against the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Toyota Land Cruiser in terms of dimensions and engine options. The MG Gloster is expected to start at a price tag of INR 30 lakhs and top out at around INR 40 lakhs.(Image: Autocar India)
