Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing, which represents 111 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six regional continental unions, conducted its annual general meeting yesterday. During the occasion, Nepal Automobiles’ Association (NASA) received the first FIM Family Solidarity Trophy.The trophy was announced at the meeting by Jeorge Vegas, the president of FIM. The trophy was received by NASA Nepal and the national associations of 15 countries including Spain, Turkey, Indonesia and Italy. To have received such a prestigious trophy on a worldwide stage, NASA Nepal has done a tremendous job by uplifting the Nepalese automotive sector and the riders.
The general assembly which saw the participation of 77 federations also approved the report for the year 2020. Likewise, the committee has also approved NASA’s proposal of organizing the ‘2021 International Motorcycling Conference’ in Nepal.
The general assembly has also decided to establish a motorcycle foundation under the leadership of the federation, global lobbying for the insurance of riders, environmental protection, women’s empowerment, and global road safety campaigns. The federation has also approved dozen of competitions for 2021, the next World Assembly in Monaco, and the Asian General Assembly in Macau.
Govinda Bhattarai, Board Member, National Sports Council, Santosh Neupane (NASA Nepal Secretary-Motorcycling), and member Diprash Shakya, Member-NASA Nepal, participated in the General assembly, on the behalf of NASA.
