Ola Electric has launched the Ola S1 Air, an entry-level budget electric scooter, in India at an introductory price of INR 79,999. The S1 Air will have a real-life range of 100 kilometers on a full charge when used in eco-mode, says the company. The Ola S1 Air electric scooter is built on the same platform as the upmarket Ola S1 and S1 Pro. However, its powertrain and battery pack have been re-engineered. The S1 Air which is powered by a 2.5 kWh battery pack and a 4.5 kW hub motor delivers a top speed of 85 kmpg and can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in 4.3 seconds. To keep the costs in check, the Ola S1 Air gets a conventional telescopic fork-type front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers unline the single-sided front suspension like the S1 and S1 Pro. Also, both ends get drum brakes to reduce the weight. Tipping the scales at 99kg, the S1 Air is much lighter than the 125kg S1 Pro.Unlike the banana-style footboard of the S1 and S1 Pro, the S1 Air gets a flat floorboard to boast more practicality. The S1 Air gets a storage space of 34 litres, which is 2 litres less than its more expensive siblings. The sear is also new on the S1 Air with tubular grab rails. On the features front, the S1 Air continues to get the same 7-inch touchscreen TFT display with three riding modes from its more upmarket siblings. Similarly, the S1 Air will come equipped with Ola's MoveOS 3 software as standard with features like proximity unlock, party mode, moods, hill hold, profiles and vacation mode, and compatibility with Ola's hypercharger network. With Ola hyperchargers, users will now be able to charge their scooters up to 50km in 15 minutes, at a charging speed of 3km per minute. The Ola S1 Air is available in five colours - Coral Glam, Neo Mint, Porcelain White, Jet Black and Liquid Silver.
