Skoda India has unveiled the all-new Skoda Kylaq, marking the Czech brand's entry into the popular sub-4-metre segment, which accounts for nearly 50% of the Indian car market.
Developed and manufactured in India, the Kylaq becomes Skoda’s third SUV offering, joining the Kodiaq and Kushaq. It is built on the locally adapted MQB-A0-IN platform, the same architecture used by the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan.
In terms of dimensions, the Kylaq measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,783 mm in width, and 1,619 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,566 mm and a ground clearance of 189 mm.
Under the hood, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0 TSI engine producing 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The engine is delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The manual variant accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 10.5 seconds and has a top speed of 188 kph.
The Skoda Kylaq's exterior design features a sleek, shiny black grille with 3D ribs, replacing the traditional Skoda radiator grille, and a new lower front spoiler in an aluminum finish. The headlights are slim and minimalist, while the vehicle’s sides feature clean, modern lines and robust cladding around the wheel arches and sills, giving it a confident, rugged stance.
Safety is a priority across all variants, with 25 standard features including six airbags, Multi-Collision Brake, Roll-Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, XDS+, Anti-lock Brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Electronic Stability Control. Higher-spec variants add up to 35 additional safety features, such as cornering lights, automatic headlights and wipers, Hill Hold Control, and tire pressure monitoring.
Inside, the Kylaq is equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as wireless charging. It also introduces segment-first features such as six-way power-adjustable, ventilated front seats. Other premium offerings include cruise control, steering-mounted paddle shifters (with the six-speed automatic), and leatherette upholstery.
The locally developed Skoda Kylaq is set to launch in early 2025, with a competitive starting price of INR 7.89 lakh.
