Suzuki has introduced the much awaited 1.5-litre DDiS 225 Diesel engine in the Ciaz. Developed in-house, this diesel engine offers more power and good low-end torque. The updated Suzuki Ciaz is the first model to feature the new engine that’s been called DDiS 225. According to the company, the “engine offers improved performance, best in class fuel efficiency, enhanced torque and power with refined NVH performance to thrill customers seeking higher performance cars from Suzuki.”This all-aluminum engine churns out 94 bhp and delivers a peak torque of 225 Nm between 1500-2500 RPM. In addition to the new 1.5 litre diesel engine, the Ciaz will also get a newly designed 6-speed transmission. The company claims a certified fuel efficiency figure of 26.82 kmpl (ARAI Certified). However, the new Suzuki Ciaz diesel misses out on the mild-hybrid setup of the old model.The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the best-selling mid-sized sedan at the moment in the Indian market and this new engine should help the company address the issues faced with the outdated diesel engine.
