Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd, the sole authorized distributor of Tata vehicles in Nepal, recently organized a Tata Nexon EV Range Test 2022 event. The purpose of the event was to create a platform to interact with Nexon EV owners on a day filled with fun, food, and music.

Our team from Nepal Drives was also invited and we were delighted to spend almost an entire day with Tata's best-selling electric SUV. Here's how it all went down.

The event was initiated at Sipradi's fully-fledged workshop at Naikap. Our team along with customers of Tata started coming in at 7.30 AM. By 8.30 around 25, Nexon EVs had already rolled in with families on board. There was a brief meet and & greet session followed by a warm delicious breakfast.

After breakfast, we were all given a tour of Sipradi's state-of-the-art facility. We were taken to the EV Learning Center where Sipradi had laid out all the important parts that go into making a Tata Nexon EV out in the open. We got up close with the Nexon EV’s motor, battery pack, and all other important parts whilst we were debriefed on what every part’s role is and how they work in conjunction with each other.

Then we proceeded to the start of the range test. The test was basically completing the race with the least amount of energy conserved. And, the winner would be the one who had the lowest average battery watt-hour consumed for every kilometer (wh/km) and range expected based on the average wh/km scored.

Before flagging off we were all handed a map of the route we were all supposed to take. Our race started from Naika, from here we had to get to 5 strategically placed checkpoints at BBSM Kalanki, Jawalakhel, CTC Mall, Durbarmarg, and BBSM Maharajgunj. Collecting little tokens at each checkpoint we then headed for Hyatt Hotel, Boudha where we concluded the race.

Once every participant had reached the destination, all the scores were recorded and tallied. There were prizes for podium finishes as well, a vacuum cleaner for 3rd, a convection oven for 2nd, and an LED TV for the Winner, all prizes provided by Samsung. After basking in the winter sun for a while, the results were in.

Before announcing the winners, all the participants were addressed by some of the biggest names in Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd. namely, CEO Rajan Babu Shrestha, COO Rajesh Prasad Giri, CM Ajit Narayan Singh, RCCM (South Asia) Randhir Kumar Choudhary, and HOD-CCPV Kumar Bhandari among others. After that, we moved on to the prizes.

The third place with an average wh/km of 94 wh/km and an expected range of 321 km was a tie. Two participants, Udeep Neupane and Tripti Singh were prized with a Samsung vacuum cleaner. The second place with an average of 91 wh/km and an expected range of 332 km was also a tie. Two participants, Anish Kavra and Bharat P. Pudasaini were prized with a Samsung convection oven. The first place with an astonishing average of 87 wh/km and a hefty expected range of 347 km was Mr Salim Shrestha. Shrestha took home a brand new Samsung LED TV.

For what it's worth, the highest average of 147 wh/km was achieved by Nepal Drives’ Swornim Prasai. He managed to complete the entire race with a battery consumption of just 8%. This means that if you have a Tata Nexon EV, you don't need to be worried about running out of charge all of a sudden.

The prize distribution was then followed by a lavish lunch buffet accompanied by an unplugged music performance. The food was amazing and the company was even better. Before saying our goodbyes we talked to a few of the participants regarding their experience of the event. Here is what they had to say.

"Today's event was great. First of all, we were given an education session regarding the inner workings of the Nexon EV and got to see its internal components in person, and learned how all of it works. We've all been driving EVs but we didn't know how to best drive an electric vehicle prior to this event. This race to get the best efficiency made us drive our vehicles the way it was meant to be driven, we knew how to do it but we just ignored it. This event made us realize that." - Abish Acharya

"I used to drive a petrol car prior to the Nexon EV. The high maintenance cost and emissions of fuel car was the primary motivation for me to switch to EVs. After living with the Nexon EV for a year I can say it is a wonderful vehicle. In my experience, the operating cost of the vehicle has gone down in an unbelievable manner. The long drives in the Nexon EV are comfortable and I don't feel exhausted at all. Apart from that, I would encourage Tata to build an even wider charging network and fix any issues in the mobile app. Talking about today's event I am very happy. Getting to know fellow owners and discussing things about our cars was a great experience. I didn't even know there was a Nexon EV owners group in WhatsApp prior to this. All this helps the group find solutions to each other's problems. I would encourage Sipradi to conduct more events like this in the future as it acts as one of the best platforms to meet and grow the community." - Prabin Raj Giri

"I've been driving the Tata Nexon EV for 15 months now. I love the ride and handling of this car, the car feels hefty and gives a comfortable drive. The Nexon EV's main advantage is its ground clearance of 205mm it can go almost anywhere over any bad roads. Talking about the event, I think it is one of the first of its kind in the EV segment. Sipradi has done an amazing job uniting its customers and giving them a platform where they can share their experiences, knowledge, and their issues regarding their EVs. A few driving tips I'd want to give my fellow EV owners are mainly don't accelerate hard, apply only a feather touch on the pedal. Don't brake abruptly unless there's an emergency, use Regen as much as you can. And always coast to a stop." - Salim Shrestha (Winner of the Nexon EV Range Test)

Lastly, we applaud Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd. for conducting what was a one-of-a-kind event. It was fun and full of knowledge and experience. We hope the auto industry conducts more events like these where their customers are cherished and celebrated.
