Toyota has revealed the all-new Urban Cruiser, a compact electric SUV based on the Urban SUV Concept showcased last year.
The Urban Cruiser shares its underpinnings with the recently revealed Suzuki e Vitara, including the skateboard platform, battery pack options, and motor configurations.
The Urban Cruiser offers two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options, available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The FWD model features a 49 kWh battery, delivering 106 kW of power and 189 Nm of torque, while a 61 kWh battery upgrade enhances performance to 128 kW. The AWD version, equipped with the 61 kWh battery, offers 135 kW of power and a robust 300 Nm of torque.
Slightly larger than the Yaris Cross Hybrid SUV, the Urban Cruiser measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. Its compact design ensures easy maneuverability, supported by a turning radius of just 5.2 meters. Depending on the trim, the SUV comes equipped with 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Urban Cruiser is packed with technologies including Downhill Assist Control and Trail Mode for tackling different terrains. Safety features include a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane keep assist, and a 360-degree camera system.
Inside, the cabin features a modern design with a 10.25-inch digital driver display integrated with a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen. Depending on the model, additional luxuries include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a premium JBL audio system, and a fixed sunroof.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is set to make its global debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, starting on January 10.
