TVS Motor Company India has launched the 125cc Raider motorcycle to try its fortune in the 125cc motorcycle segment again. The Raider 125 is TVS' fourth attempt to crack the 125cc motorcycle segment after the Victor GLX 125, Flame and Phoenix. Although the competition is tough in the said segment, the Raider 125 could start a new chapter for TVS given how the company has loaded the bike with features and priced it quite well. Launched at a price of INR 77,500 (ex-showroom,Delhi), the Raider 125 directly goes up against established players like the Honda Shine, Hero Glamour, and the newcomer Bajaj Pulsar 125.
The design language of the TVS Raider 125 surely stands out in the commuter space. The Raider 125 gets an all-LED headlamp along with stylish looking angular LED DRLs, as well as LED-tail-lights, a muscular tank, sharp belly-pan, and a split-seat setup. The Raider comes with a negative LCD dash displaying a plethora of information like fuel efficiency readout, a top and average speed indicator, a stop/start system indicator, and a ride mode indicator. The company will soon launch a top-spec trim of the Raider 125 with a 5-inch colour TFT screen and TVS' SamrtXonnect Bluetooth module.
Powering the TVS Raider 125 is a 124.8cc, three-valve, air-cooled engine making 11.4hp at 7,500rpm and 11.2Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This engine is fuel-injected and comes paired with a five-speed gearbox.TVS claims the Raider's 125cc, three-valve air- and the oil-cooled engine will propel the bike from 0 to 60 kph in under six seconds. The all-new TVS Raider 125 gets a segment-first two ride modes namely Eco and Power. Eco mode activates the engine stop-start system, which switches the engine off when it comes to a stop. Power, on the other hand, delivers a snappier throttle response. TVS is claiming that the Raider 125 has a fuel efficiency figure of 67kpl.
As far as the dimensions are concerned, the bike has a wheelbase of 1,326mm and a seat height of 780mm. Suspension duty on the Raider 125 is handled by a telescopic fork and a gas-charged mono-shock with preload adjustment. Similarly, braking is carried out by a 240mm disc up front and a 130mm drum at the rear. The Raider 125 comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. The fuel tank can hold 10 litres and the bike has a kerb weight figure of just 123kg.The colour choices include four options – Striking Red, Blazing Blue, Wicked Black, and Fiery Yellow.
