Yatri Motorcycles, the homegrown electric manufacturer, has refuted rumours that the founders of the company have moved abroad and abandoned production. The electric motorcycle manufacturer has been facing an ongoing battle to register homegrown vehicles in Nepal. The company issued a statement today that read, "We’ve observed articles with misleading news regarding Yatri Motorcycle Founders moving abroad and giving up on the vision of developing world-class products in our own backyard, Nepal. This could not be any further from the truth. Yatri Motorcycles is committed to its vision and we will keep moving forward challenging the status quo as we have been doing from day one. One thing we know for sure is perseverance and grit".

Yatri Motorcycles came into existence in 2017. Yatri registered as a company at the Office of the Company Registrar with the aim to develop electric vehicles in Nepal and conduct sales and distribution of these said vehicles in Nepal and beyond. The company then immediately began applying for permissions and certificates from various ministries and departments.

On April 2021, the electric motorcycle manufacturer showcased the pre-production unit of the P-1 dual-sport electric motorcycle. However, the legal inconsistencies and the lack of objectively defined policies have complicated the registration requirements for Yatri Motorcycles. There is no provision for the registration of ‘Made-In-Nepal’ vehicles in the law.
