Yatri Motorcycles, the domestic electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has unveiled a groundbreaking development: the upcoming Yatri P1 Gen2 dual sport electric motorcycle will become the world's first electric two-wheeler platform to integrate wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

“Introducing the world’s first electric 2W platform to support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto - P1 Gen2 gives you the ability to safely use what you love about your iPhone or an Android while you take it on a ride", stated the company in its Instagram post.

Despite not revealing specific details, Yatri Motorcycles asserts that the Gen 2 model benefits from substantial advancements, leveraging insights gained from nearly 1 million kilometers of road data and maintaining a close feedback loop with users. This collaborative approach towards development suggests that the upcoming P1 Gen 2 will boast improved range and consistent performance compared to its predecessor.

Similarly, Yatri Energy, a subsidiary of Yatri Motorcycles, is also establishing an extensive network of P1 fast chargers along major highways and other locations, catering to the broader EV community.

The first-gen P1 featured a 3.0 kWh battery, requiring less than 6 hours for home charging, while a fast charger could achieve a full charge in under an hour. The P1 boasted a peak power of 14 kW (approximately 19 hp) and a maximum wheel torque of 480 Nm. With a claimed top speed of 100 kmph, it boasted a power-to-weight ratio comparable to 250cc motorcycles.

The first-gen P1 was priced between Rs 4,95,000 - Rs 5,44,900 in the Nepalese market. Buyers even had the flexibility to customize their motorcycles, choosing options for Color (Paint, Seat, and Suspension finish), Power Pack (Base and Boost), Performance Braking (Base and Stoppie), and Digital Startup Pack (Base and Digital).

Dedicated to transforming the urban mobility landscape, Yatri Motorcycles was founded in 2017 to prove world-class electric vehicles can be designed, engineered, and manufactured in Nepal.

Despite facing legal complexities and undefined policies, Yatri persisted in its commitment to locally designed and manufactured electric vehicles. The challenge of registering 'Made-In-Nepal' vehicles was later addressed, as the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport responded to public criticism by opening the way for such registrations on April 27, 2023.
