The Hyundai Kona electric made its way into Nepali roads much sooner than anticipated. The electric vehicle was already flying off of the Hyundai showrooms and was in high demand long before the car had even hit Indian roads.

The Hyundai Kona electric had quickly established itself as one of the front runners of the race towards electric propulsion. Now the Kona electric begins its second run in the Nepalese market. With little to no changes under the hood, we are here to tell you what exactly is different in the all-new Hyundai Kona Electric.

Let’s start with the biggest change, the exterior. The new Kona electric brings the same understated aggressive looks and gives it a makeover. The major change is right at the front where the new Kona electric ditches the mimic grille of the outgoing model and replaces it with a Tesla Model 3 type flush nose defined by a clean pristine line.

The nose also houses the charging port. You get redesigned LED DRLs which are now longer and sharper. Right at the bottom, you get all new headlamps that look fantastic and are all LEDs. On the lower half, you get vents on either side to help with better aerodynamics and minimal black cladding at the bottom.

In fact, minimal black cladding is another key area to distinguish the new Kona electric from the old. The new model sheds almost two-thirds of black plastic cladding compared to the old, and that is apparent when you look at the side profile. The large plastic claddings on the wheel arches and door panels from the old Kona electric are all gone. What you get now are body-coloured panels. This makes the new Kona electric look sportier, and adding more flare to that are the new alloy wheels.

Finally, on the rear, you get a redesigned bumper with minimal black cladding. The LED taillamps have also been reworked and made sleeker and more handsome. Completing the unique look is the roof-mounted shark-fin antenna and a roof spoiler with integrated brake lights.

The Kona Electric’s cabin is much the same as the one found inside the outgoing model except for a few but significant changes. The first and the most important change is the all-new 10.3-inch digital cluster that displays all the necessary information required by the driver at all times. The display on the gauge is smooth and high resolution. It gets plenty bright and you’ll be able to see it properly even when it’s hit by direct sunlight.

You get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired to a six-speaker system. The infotainment comes with all the bells and whistles and also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Other minor changes on the new Kona electric include redesigned AC vents, and reworked buttons in the front console, and door pads. Apart from that, you get the same premium and comfortable cabin from the old Kona electric with good driving visibility.

Speaking of driving, that’s where the Kona electric has remained unchanged. The new Kona electric gets the same 39.2 kWh battery pack which makes 134 HP and 395 Nm of instant torque. The battery pack comes with a range of a little over 300 km which should be good for everyday city run.

Since nothing has changed over the outgoing model performance remains identical. The Kona Electric is an easy to drive car that can be seriously fun and exciting when you want it to be, thanks to the instant power delivery. Driving in the city is convenient thanks to the light steering and balanced suspension. Highway driving is a joy thanks to electric power.

The all-new Hyundai Kona electric takes the formula that has already worked wonders and only gives it a light touch up to make it even better. This don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, but spice it up just a little bit approach has worked. And carrying a price tag of just under Rs. 59.96 Lakh, we must say, that the new Hyundai Kona electric is still worth its price tag and totally the sensible choice.
