Go Bremen Motors Malaysia is the manufacturing and distribution partner of Borgward for the Malaysian and other markets in the surrounding region like Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mauritius, and others.
‘We, Go Bremen Motors Sdn. Bhd. are privileged and proud to be associated with DSM Global Company based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We appointed DSM Global Company as an authorised importer and distributor of Borgward Automobiles in Nepal’ says the company in a statement.
Featuring a length of 4490mm and a wheelbase of 2685mm, the Borgward BX5 is a four-door, five-seater, premium compact SUV which will rival the likes of Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage, and so on. The BX5 comes with a fully variable torque-on-demand all-wheel drive as an option, and a comprehensive range of comfort and convenience features like the B-Link Smart Connectivity System and a centrally-located 8.0-inch touchscreen system. The BX5 was also the recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2017.
Designed at Borgward Design Centre in Stuttgart, the Borgward BX5 features the company’s distinctive design DNA, including the Octagon radiator grille bearing the diamond-shape brand logo, the typical wing lines along the sides, and a Borgward lettering at the rear. The BX5 is available in two engine options – a 1.4-litre motor that produces 148 hp of power and a 2.0-litre motor that produces 221 hp of power. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. While the smaller 1.4-litre engine is offered with a front-wheel drivetrain, the 2.0-litre is available as an all-wheel-drive option.
Depending upon the trim level, the BX5 comes loaded with several features like automatic halogen headlamps, LED taillights, LED DRLs, keyless entry, cruise control, keyless entry, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front parking sensors, dual-zone air-con system with rear vents, powered tailgate, and power-folding side mirror with puddle lamps.
On the safety front, all the BX5 variants come with an electronic differential system, six airbags (front, side, and curtain), hill start assist, vehicle stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The Stuttgart-based automaker was once a well-known name in various international races. During the period from 1950 to 1958, Borgward earned great places in 24 Heures du Mans, Nurburgring 1000KM, Carrera Panamericana, Montlhéry Race, and other top international car races, breaking several world records. However, the company returned to motorsports with participation in the prestigious 2018 Dakar Rally.
The Borgward BX5 which is available in five trims and two engine options is priced from RM 118,950 (Nrs 33.50 Lakhs) in the Malaysian Market.
