BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV Spotted Enroute to Kathmandu Ahead Of Launch

The BYD Atto 3 electric SUV has been spotted for the very first time while being transported on a transport carrier en route to Kathmandu ahead of its launch. Cimex BYD, the sole authorised distributor for BYD in Nepal, is introducing the Atto 3 electric medium-sized SUV in the Nepalese market on October 15. The Atto 3 is one of the most anticipated electric cars coming into our market in 2022.

The BYD Atto 3 comes loaded with features like 18-inch alloy wheels (215/55), a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment system with DAB radio and Bluetooth, a 5-inch driver’s digital instrument cluster, Qi wireless phone charging, Keyless entry and start, Portable card key, Eight-speaker Dirac sound system, Six-way driver and four-way front passenger adjustable power seats, 60/40 folding rear seats, Panoramic sunroof, Electric tailgate, Roof rails, Power-folding and heated wing mirrors, Multi-link rear suspension, etc.

BYD Atto 3: Dimensions

The BYD Atto 3 measures 4455mm long,1875mm wide and 1615mm high. The five-seater crossover comes with a wheelbase of 2720mm and a ground clearance of 175mm. The Atto 3 is the first SUV built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0. The e-platform 3.0 improves EV safety and battery performance as well as optimizes the driving experience.

BYD Atto 3: Battery and Powertrain 

BYD’s revolutionary Blade Battery technology comes as a standard in Atto 3, offering drivers industry-leading safety levels as well as an extended single-charge range capability. The ‘Blade Battery’ is said to be stronger, safer, and at least 50 percent more energy-dense than conventional lithium-ion-phosphate (LFP) batteries.

The Atto 3 will come equipped with a 60.4 kWh ‘Blade Battery’ that provides a range of 420 km according to the WLTP cycle. Power delivery is rated at 150 kW while torque produced is 310 Nm. The Atto 3 which is available exclusively in one front-wheel-drive powertrain can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

BYD Atto 3: Safety

The five-door electric SUV comes with safety features such as seven airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX, and a suite of ADAS features, making it one of the safest electric SUVs.The car also has a system which applies the brakes after an impact to avoid secondary collisions.

With an impressive five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test results, the BYD Atto 3 is already in an advantageous position ahead of its launch in the Nepalese market. The BYD Atto 3 has secured 91% for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 89% in Child Occupant Protection (COP),  69% in Vulnerable Road Users Test and 74% in Safety Assist.

BYD Atto 3: Charging

The BYD Atto 3 SUV also offers 80kW DC charging speeds, which tops up the EV in a claimed 45 minutes, and three-phase 7kW AC charging capabilities. It uses the common Type 2/CCS2 plug standard and is capable of vehicle-to-load (V2L).

BYD Atto 3: Rivals

The Atto 3 rivals the likes of the Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG ZS EV.
