EXCLUSIVE: BYD Dolphin EV Launched In Nepal At Rs 39,80,000

One of the most anticipated electric cars coming into our market in 2023, the BYD Dolphin has finally been launched at a price of Rs 39,80,000. The BYD Dolphin will be available only in a single variant.

In the Nepalese market, the BYD Dolphin will be powered by a 44.9 kWh battery pack and a front-wheel-drive electric motor to produce 70 kW of power and 180 Nm of torque, with an electric cruising range of 340 km (WLTP). Similarly, the Dolphin can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 10.9 seconds. It also gets 4 driving modes and 2 regen levels. The BYD Dolphin supports maximum AC charging (Type 2) of 7.4 kW as well as DC fast charging (CCS) at a maximum rate of 60 kW.

The BYD Dolphin is the first model in BYD’s Ocean series to adopt the “Ocean Aesthetics” design concept. It’s built on the state-of-the-art BYD e-Platform 3.0. BYD’s revolutionary Blade Battery technology which comes as a standard in Dolphin offers drivers industry-leading safety levels as well as an extended single-charge range capability.

The BYD Dolphin is 4290mm long, 1770mm wide and 1570mm high – with a wheelbase of 2770 mm. Similarly, the ground clearance stands at 175mm. The 345-litre luggage compartment can be expanded to up to 1,310 litres. It runs on 16-inch wheels.

In terms of features, the BYD Dolphin EV gets a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, a 5-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 12.8-inch floating central control screen. Similarly, the electric subcompact EV also offers front seat heating, a four-way electronically adjustable passenger seat, a six-way electronically adjustable driver seat, and a rear centre armrest with a cup holder.

Safety features on the BYD Dolphin include 6 airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ABS with EBD, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a Traction Control System (TCS), a 360-degree camera and ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking System, Rear Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, among many others.

The BYD Dolphin will be available in four exterior colour options – Sand White, Maldive Purple, Coral Pink and Urban Grey.
