Derived from the Sanskrit language, the name Avinya stands for ‘Innovation’. Originally inspired by a catamaran, the Avinya Concept is a product that combines the essence of a premium hatch with the luxuries and versatility of an SUV and the roominess and functionality of an MPV – all put together to create something new and unique. According to Tata Motors, this new skateboard platform will support a range of body styles and configurations.

The Avinya concept EV introduces a signature lighting element. The Avinya DRL begins vertically in the middle and stretches across the overall width of the vehicle making a distant ’T’ like shape that signifies Tata Motors. The rear light follows the same treatment. The side-profile gets large wheels and wide-opening butterfly doors to open up bigger interior space and also enable the accommodation of a bigger battery pack.

The agile and robust Pure EV GEN 3 Architecture offers this concept with a flexible design while boasting of next-generation connectivity, advanced driver assistance systems and enhanced performance and efficiency. This global platform offers high structural safety and has the next level of waterproofing and dust protection, making it ready for all forms of terrains, says the company. This architecture is built with the use of next-gen materials, efficient electronic componentry and proprietary energy management strategies & algorithms for efficiency management.

Moreover, the electrified versions of the Tata Harrier and Safari are expected to be one of the first models to be underpinned by this new EV platform.

The Avinya concept also comes packed with new-age technology, software and Artificial Intelligence to provide an extremely premium yet simple and calming customer experience. Furthermore, the battery used will support an ultra-fast charge capability, in line with the infrastructure evolution, pumping a minimum 500 km range in under 30 minutes.

The Avinya concept features a beige and brown interior. It comes with an aroma diffuser, revolving front seats and a panoramic sunroof. Instead of a traditional screen, the soundbar takes centre stage, with voice being the main interface for occupants to access the features. Similarly, each seat in the car offers a personal sound system, as well as an air vent. This helps enhance the passengers’ journey by creating a smarter and customized experience for everyone aboard.

One of the most interesting aspects of this concept is its sustainable material story, especially its floor tiles. The “Second Life” concept is to mix a recycled plastic resin with local mineral waste, to create a new material which is unique, local, naturally coloured, and capable to be formed with a rich visual texture.

Tata Motors has recently announced its plans to launch ten new electric cars in India over the next five years across different segments.
