Tata Motors has showcased its latest electric vehicle (EV) concept – Concept Curvv- an electric midsize SUV coupe that will be positioned above the Nexon in the company’s lineup. The Curvv concept is not a new-gen Nexon, but an all-new car, based on a completely new platform.

“The concept Curvv is a coupe-style SUV with stylish “Digital” design language,” said Tata Motors. “This platform can take multiple bodystyle. Curvv is the first one, and it is possible to have more models based on this in the future. With this new architecture, we will strengthen the key pillars of Range, Performance and Technology, while retaining Safety and Reliability as hygiene offerings,” the company said.

The exterior of the Curvv is characterized by a raised ride height, tough cladding and dynamic proportions. The slim upper DRL, triangular headlamp and the signature surround rear LED lamps lend the Curvv concept a unique look.  This, along with the large offset of the front and rear fenders, and strong mid-section set up a solid and balanced stance.

There is a strong aerodynamic theme running through the SUV. The floating bonnet along with the floating C-pillar continues the aerodynamic theme, with airflow across the body side and underneath the pillar, exiting at the side of the rear screen. The wheels also have aero blade inserts to close up the open area and allow better airflow across the surfaces, and diamond-tuned finished surfaces give high graphical contrast.

The interior is minimalistic in approach. The dashboard gets two free-standing touchscreen infotainment units – one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster. It also gets a new two-spoke steering wheel design. There’s even a large panoramic glass roof that integrates the rear spoiler with the roofline.

The Curvv will be using Tata’s more advanced Ziptron technology with a certified range of 400-500km range. The production-spec of the Curvv electric SUV model will be launched in the Indian market within the next two years. Tata will also launch the Curvv with an internal combustion engine (ICE) version later.
