Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd, the sole authorised distributor for Proton cars in Nepal, has announced ‘Dashain-Dakshina’ Festival offer under which customers can get up to 6 Lakh benefits on the purchase of the Saga sedan and the X70 SUV.

The offer states that customers can exchange any brand of an old four-wheeler with a brand new Proton car. Apart from the exchange facilities, the company is also providing an exchange bonus up to Rs 50,000- Rs 2,00,000. In addition, the company will provide a cash discount of Rs 50,000 – Rs 2,50,000. Proton Motors will also provide in-house financing and in-house free one-year insurance.

Proton offers the X70 SUV and Saga sedan in the Nepalese market. The Proton Saga sedan is priced at Rs 37.99 Lakh for the standard manual transmission variant, and Rs 42.99 Lakh for the premium automatic transmission variant. Similarly, the X70 SUV is priced between Rs 86.99 Lakh- Rs 1.049 Crore in a total of four variants.

Proton Saga:

The Saga is powered by a 1.3 litre four-cylinder VVT engine that delivers 91 PS and 117 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox, depending on the chosen variant, with Eco-Drive Assist. The Saga is available in five colors – Jet Grey, Snow White, Armour Silver, Ruby Red and Rosewood Maroon.

The Saga sedan measures 4331mm in length, 1689mm in width, 1491mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2465mm. Similarly, ground clearance stands at 150mm.  The sedan gets a boot space of 420 litres and a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres. While the standard variant sits on 14-inch steel wheels, the premium variant gets 15-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the most noticeable feature is the floating 7-inch touchscreen monitor with Bluetooth connectivity, 16GB of internal storage, and Android connectivity. Convenience features on the Saga include a remote trunk release, a sun visor with a ticket holder and mirror, LED map lamps, and new assist grips to match the new headlining material.

Safety features on the Saga include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Hill-Hold Assist (HHA) as standard on the top-spec Premium model. All variants also come with ISOFIX mounting points and twin airbags, which gives the model a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Proton X70:

The Proton X70 is available in both 2WD and AWD variants and it is priced at  –  Standard 2WD (Rs 86.99 Lakh), Executive 2WD (Rs 91.99 Lakh), Executive AWD (Rs 96.99 Lakh), and Premium 2WD (Rs 1.0499 Crore).

The Proton X70 is powered by a 1.5-liter TGDi turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission which is co-developed by Volvo and Geely. The X70 is 4,519mm long, 1,831mm wide, and 1,694mm high. It offers a wheelbase of 2,670mm and a ground clearance of 190mm. The SUV is available in four colour options – Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, and Space Grey.

The X70 encompasses best-in-class features that include 6 Airbags, ABS with EBS and BA, Auto Headlights & Wipers, Keyless Entry, Push-Start, 360-Degree Camera, 9 Speakers, an 8-inch Infotainment Screen with smartphone connectivity, Climate Control with Smart Air Purifier System, Nappa leather power seats,  Panoramic Sunroof, Rain Sensing Wipers, Electric ORVMs, LED Projector Headlights with LED DRLs, LED Fog Lamps, Power Tailgate with Foot Sensors, and 17/18/19-inch Alloy Wheels, depending upon on the grade, etc.

Moreover, the Proton X70 also comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The ADAS system includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System, Door Open Warning System, and Intelligent High Beam Control. The X70 also holds a full 5-star crash test rating from ASEAN NCAP and happens to be the winner of the 2019 Car of the Year Award in Malaysia.

The X70 also gets the ‘HI PROTON’ voice command assistance system to detect and respond to selected voice commands. The Voice Command is able to answer basic queries as well as controlling major functions of the infotainment system and vehicle in-car functions.
