With the country’s sparse charging infrastructure compounding this concern, numerous potential buyers still hesitate to embrace EVs.  Nevertheless, recent advancements in electric vehicle technology have led to a noticeable increase in EV presence on our roads. This progress translates into a burgeoning market offering new EV models with substantially extended ranges compared to those available just a few years ago.

The Nepalese market boasts a significant number of EVs with ample range capabilities for highway journeys on just one charge. Hence, we’ve compiled a list of the top 15 electric cars in the country, each boasting the highest claimed range achievable on a single charge according to the official claims of their respective manufacturers. These official claims are evaluated based on the testing standards (WLTP/NEDC/ARAI) used by each company and may not be directly comparable or reflective of real-world performance.

As this list features the highest claimed ranges, its focus is primarily on the premium segment of the EV market in Nepal.

Seres 3 – 405km (NEDC)

Price: Rs 49.99 Lakh, Rs 52.99 Lakh

The Seres 3 is powered by a 52.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack combined with a 99 kW electric motor. The electric sub-compact SUV is offered in two variants: Comfort and Premium.

Deepal S07 – 410km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 71.99 lakh

Positioned as a mid-sized electric SUV, the Deepal S07 is set to redefine the electric SUV experience in Nepal with its sleek design aesthetics and cutting-edge features. The Deepal S07 features a 66.8 kWh Ternary Lithium Battery to provide a WLTP range of 410 km, complemented by a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor to deliver 99 kW and a peak torque of 320 Nm. It also gets four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Customize.

BYD Atto 3 – 420 km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 65.88 lakh

The BYD Atto 3 Superior Variant is available in a 60.48 kWh Blade Battery to deliver a WLTP range of 420 km. This variant of the Atto 3 produces 100 kW of power and delivers an instant torque of 310 Nm, resulting in 0 to 100 kmph in 9.7 secs. The Atto 3 is also available in a smaller 49.92 kWh battery pack with a 100 kW electric motor.

Omoda E5 – 430km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 61.99 lakh

The Omoda E5 is equipped with a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack, providing a range of 430 km based on the WLTP standard. Powered by a front-mounted 99 kW electric motor, the Omoda E5 delivers 340 Nm of maximum torque. Using an AC charger (11 kW charging pile), the E5 can charge from 30% to 80% in just 4 hours, while DC fast charging (80 kW charging pile) achieves the same in a speedy 28 minutes.

MG4 EV – 435km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 49.99 lakh

The 99 kW MG4 EV Deluxe trim is available in a 64 kWh battery pack to deliver a WLTP range of 440 km. The design of the MG4 EV is sharp with some crossover design cues. The MG4 has features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and ADAS, among others. The MG4 EV is also offered in a smaller 51 kWh battery pack with a 99 kW electric motor. In terms of charging, the MG4 EV supports up to 150kW DC charging.

Maxus Mifa9 – 435km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 1.40 crore

The Maxus Mifa 9 fully electric MPV is powered by a 90 kWh Ternary Li-ion battery to deliver 180 kW (245 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. The  MIFA 9 does 0-100km/h in 9.2 seconds, and tops out at 180km/h. The 90kWh battery provides a travel range of 435 km (WLTP) and can be topped up from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes

Tata Nexon EV Max – 452km (ARAI)

Price: Rs 45.99 lakh

Equipped with a 40.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, the Nexon EV Max offers an ARAI-certified range of 453 km (under standard testing conditions). The Nexon EV MAX produces 100 kW of power and delivers an instant torque of 250 Nm, resulting in 0 to 100 sprint times in under 9 secs.

BMW iX3 – 460km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 2.29 crore

Powered by an 80 kWh battery pack, the BMW iX3 M delivers a range of up to 460 km (WLTP). The BMW iX3 M utilizes the brand’s fifth-generation eDrive powertrain from the single-motor BMW iX model. The BMW iX3 M is only available in a single-motor, rear-wheel drive configuration. The drive system generates a maximum output of 210 kW and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The ix3 M accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.

GAC Aion Y – 490km (NEDC)

Price: Rs 54.99 lakh

The GAC Aion Y features a 61.54 kWh LFP battery to offer a range of 490 km (NEDC), paired with an electric motor producing a maximum power of 100 kW and a peak torque of 225 Nm, which allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds.

Neta X – 500 km (NEDC)

Price: Rs 57.99 lakh, Rs 61.99 lakh

The Neta X is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor generating up to 100 kW of power. Its 62 kWh LFP battery enables a range of 500 km on the NEDC testing protocol. The Neta X is also available in a 400km variant for Rs 52.99 Lakh.

BYD second-gen e6 – 522km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 59 lakh

The second-gen BYD e6 is powered by a 71.7kWh battery pack that powers a single electric motor developing 95hp and 180Nm. On a full charge, the second-gen e6 has a claimed range of 522 km (WLTP). The all-new e6 is designed for a smooth and comfortable ride and has plenty of space in each compartment which is capped off with a 580-liters boot space.

Kia EV6 – 528km (WLTP)

Price: 1.25 crore

The EV6 comes equipped with a robust 77.4 kWh battery pack, which, when combined with a 168 kW electric motor, generates an impressive 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque in a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration. Built on a dedicated EV platform — the electric-global modular platform (E-GMP), the Kia EV6’s platform not only facilitates a generous interior space but also contributes to a remarkable driving range of up to 528 km (WLTP).

Tesla Model 3 Highland – 550km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 1.35 crore

The refreshed Model 3 has a longer range, rated at 550 km WLTP for the Standard Range Plus Rear-Wheel Drive (SR RWD) version when equipped with 18-inch Nova wheels. The 58 kWh battery pack of the Model 3 Highland, paired with a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor, provides 198 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque.

BYD Seal – 570km (WLTP)

Price: Rs 1.39 crore

The BYD Seal is available in three different versions: Dynamic (Standard Range), Premium (Extended Range), and Performance (All-Wheel-Drive). The base model for the Seal in Nepal will be the Dynamic RWD, equipped with a 61.4 kWh LFP Blade battery powering a single 150 kW electric motor, providing a range of up to 460 km (WLTP). The Premium RWD will join this variant, featuring a larger 82.5 kWh LFP Blade battery, claiming a range of 570 km (WLTP), and a 230 kW rear-mounted motor. The top-tier AWD Performance variant boasts the same 82.5 kWh battery, dual motors for all-wheel-drive, a combined 390 kW, and a range of up to 520 km (WLTP).

Skywell ET5 – 620km (NEDC)

Price: Rs 1.09 crore

The Skywell ET5 delivers a charge of 620 km (NEDC) on a single charge making it the highest-range EV in Nepal, claims the company. The large-size electric SUV gets an 85.9 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor to produce 150 kW and 320 Nm of torque. Similarly, it goes from 0-100 km/h under 7.9 seconds. The ET5 can be charged up to 80% in just half an hour using a fast charger.
