A Chinese industrial association has published a list of 76 models of intelligent connected vehicles, which adhere to the nation’s standards for automotive data security, including vehicles from BYD and Tesla.

This compilation follows security evaluations conducted jointly by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China. The list also included models from Li Auto, Lotus, Hozon New Energy Automobile, and NIO.

Commencing in November 2023, the evaluations assessed vehicles against four compliance criteria: the anonymization of external facial and other data, default non-collection of in-car data, processing of in-car data, and clear notification regarding personal information processing.

According to the association’s statement, the evaluations were conducted per relevant laws and standards, with car manufacturers voluntarily submitting their models for testing.

The association has stated that these evaluations are intended to standardize automotive data processing, safeguard the rights of car users, and foster a robust environment for automotive data security and the industry.
