Proton X70 has been spotted in the streets of Kathmandu quite a few times. It gives us great pleasure to tell you that the X70 will be launching very soon in Nepal. The Proton X70 is the most selling SUV in Malaysia which competes with the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sportage. Jagdamba motors, a subsidiary of Shanker Group, is the official distributor for Proton Cars in Nepal. The Proton X70 will sit alongside the Saga sedan in the company’s line-up in the Nepalese market.

The Proton X70 that was seen on the roads of Naxal comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which is only found in few selected premium brands. It is believed that the distributor is testing the adaptability of such features on the roads of Nepal.

According to our sources, the Proton X70 will be powered by a 1.5-liter TGDi turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 255 Nm of torque (which will be the highest in the segment). It also features a 7-speed DCT transmission which is co-developed by Volvo and Geely. The gearbox provides maximum efficiency with a minimal shift response time, making it the perfect match for the 1.5TGDi Engine. It is also believed that the model has a 2WD option as well as a well-positioned 4WD option available for the roads of Nepal.

As per the manufacturer’s website,  the Proton X70 SUV encompasses best-in-class features that include 6 Airbags, ABS with EBS and BA, Auto Headlights & Wipers, Keyless Entry (with active touch sensors on the front door handles), Push-Start, 360-Degree Camera, 8 Speakers, 8-inch Infotainment Screen, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Climate Control with Smart Air Purifier System, Electrically Foldable Wing Mirrors, LED Projector Headlights with LED DRLs, LED Fog Lamps, 17/18/19-inch Alloy Wheels which depends on the grade, etc.  The X70 also holds a full 5-star crash test rating from ASEAN-NCAP and happens to be the winner of the 2019 Car of the Year Award in Malaysia.

The X70 is also expected to get the ‘HI PROTON’ voice command assistance system, a Global Key User Interface (GKUI) system that is able to detect and respond to selected voice commands to improve safety by allowing drivers to be attentive on the road ahead.  The Voice Command is able to answer basic queries as well as controlling major functions of the infotainment system and vehicle in-car functions. You can also control many other functions of the car such as Radio, Sunroof, Windshields, and Audio Call and so on.

As per our company sources, some units of the SUV have already been booked as the company is providing an interesting early bird offer for the first lot.
