As per reports, Royal Enfield will likely name its upcoming new 650cc cruiser the ‘Super Meteor’ and officially unveil it at the 2021 EICMA show next month in Milan, Italy. The Super Meteor moniker isn’t new for the company. The brand was used for the American market between 1952 and 1962, before being replaced by the 736cc Interceptor.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will use the same 648cc, air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine from the current 650 twins. The motor which produces 47bhp of power and 52Nm of peak torque will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In terms of hardware, it should come equipped with the Royal Enfield tripper navigation system which is already available on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Himalayan.

Staying true to its retro-inspired styling, the bike will feature a circular headlamp with a chrome bezel, a tear-drop fuel tank, a rear-swept handlebar, split-style seats, twin dials, twin-sided exhaust pipes, and a round taillight. The bike will sport USD front forks and twin rear shocks. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels and the bike should have dual-channel ABS too.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor is likely to be launched in India in early 2022 and it is likely to be positioned above the current 650 twins from the brand – the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
