All You Need To Know About The Upcoming Hyundai Aura

Scheduled to launch sometime early next year in India the Hyundai Aura is Hyundai’s next-gen compact sedan based on the company’s Grand i10 Nios and shares a lot of its underpinnings, exterior and interior bits with the hatchback. The stylish sedan is poised to be a trendsetter being the most power-packed and feature-rich sedan in its segment. And here is everything you need to know about the Hyundai Aura.

  1. Design
    The Hyundai Aura is a brand new design for the sub-compact sedan. While it’s underpinnings and its overall shape, especially borrows from the recently introduced Grand i10 Nios, the rear section with the added boot with all-new rear styling. The vehicle front profile showcases unique Twin Boomerang Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) integrated with Premium Satin Front Grille with Projector type Head Lamps & Fog Lamps. The side profile indicates unique sportiness through its Coupe like styling and Luxurious Volume and solid wheel-arches created by Two Unique Character Lines and R15 Diamond Cut Type Alloy Wheel.
  2. BSVI Powertrains
    As the Indian auto industry will transition from BSIV-BSVI emission standards from April 2020, the Hyundai Aura is said to come with three engine options, all of which will be BS6 emission standard compliant. It comes with First-in-segment Kappa 1.0-litre 3-cylinder BS 6 T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that makes 99 bhp and 171 Nm of torque. The other two on offer are a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder MPI BS-6 petrol mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox that makes 81 bhp and 113Nm of torque. Lastly, a first-in-segment 1.2-liter 4-cylinder BS-6 ECOTORQ turbodiesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox that makes 74 bhp and 190Nm of torque.
  3. Dimensions
    The Aura has an identical wheelbase of 2,450mm as the Nios hatchback. However, being a sedan, the Aura is naturally longer measuring in at 3,995mm, 190mm longer than the hatchback. The front passengers get maximum legroom of 1050mm, while the rear passengers have 885mm of legroom. The boot capacity of the Hyundai Aura is claimed to measure at 402 litres. Hyundai claims that the seats in the rear have been designed to deliver better thigh supports as well as side bolster support. The rear bench has also been optimised for comfortable seating for three passengers.
  4. Features
    Just like any other Hyundai’s the Aura also comes packed to the brim with features. On the exterior, the Aura comes with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, rear LED tail lamps with a 3D outer lens, and 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the inside, you are greeted with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5.3-inch digital speedometer and MID for the driver’s instrument cluster, wireless charging and many more.
  5. Rivals
    The Hyundai Aura will rival the Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, and the Tata Tigor. The Hyundai Aura is expected to be priced between INR 6-9 lakh in India.
