Bajaj-KTM Partnership Crosses One Million Production Milestone

The joint venture of Bajaj-KTM has crossed the one million motorcycle production milestone. Bajaj Auto manufactures small-displacement KTM & Husqvarna motorcycles at its Chakan plant in India which are exported all over the world.

Bajaj Auto manufactures bikes under 500cc for both the brands, KTM and Husqvarna, in India. Select models are sold in the Indian market, while others are exported to several countries.

The Bajaj – KTM partnership began in 2007 when the Indian manufacturer picked up a 14.5% stake in KTM  and subsequently launched the brand in India. Bajaj Auto gradually increased its stake to 48%. In 2021, the shareholding was simplified when Bajaj swapped 46.5% of its holding to gain a 49.9% stake in KTM group’s parent company.

Bajaj Auto manufactures KTM’s RC range, Duke series, and the Adventure models. The RC range consists of the fully faired RC125, RC200 and RC390 models. Similarly, the Duke series includes 125 Duke, 200 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke. And the Adventure range consists of the 250 Adventure and 390 Adventure models.

Bajaj Auto also makes Husqvarna models such as the Svartpilen 250, Svartpilen 401, Vitpilen 250 and Vitpilen 401. The two brands are also working on a common 48-volt electric two-wheeler platform.
