Electric Cars in Nepal Under Rs 30 Lakh

The recent surge in the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) in Nepal can be attributed to the increased availability of affordable electric cars. This trend has not only facilitated the adoption of sustainable transportation but has also contributed significantly to the overall growth of the electric vehicle segment in the country.

In Nepal, there are 4 electric cars under Rs 30 Lakh with the top picks being the Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, Seres Mini EV and Wuling Air EV. These models are priced between Rs 13.99 Lakh to Rs 27.99 Lakh.

Seres Mini EV:

At Rs 13.99 Lakh,  the Seres Mini EV is currently the most affordable electric car in the country. Built on a pure EV platform, the Seres Mini EV is available in three variants (Base, Mid and Top) at Rs 13.99 Lakh, Rs 16.49 Lakh and Rs 17.99 Lakh, each, respectively.

The two-door, four-seater, mini EV is offered in two IP67-rated Li-ion battery packs – 13.8 kWh (Base and Mid variant) and 16.8 kWh (Top variant). The 13.8 kWh battery pack delivers a range of 180 km while the latter provides a range of 220 km. Similarly, peak power and torque stand at 25 kW/100 Nm and 30 kW/100 Nm each, respectively. The Seres Mini EV has a dimension of 3030mm x 1495mm x 1640mm (LxWxH)and a wheelbase of 1960mm. Similarly, the ground clearance stands at 140mm.

Comet EV:

The quirky little MG Comet EV is available in two variants – Pace and Play, for Rs 17.99 Lakh and Rs 20.99 Lakh, each, respectively. The Comet EV is a rebadged Wuling Air, the ultra-compact EV that’s built in China by GM and MG’s parent company, SAIC.

The two-door Comet EV has a 17.3 kWh battery pack with an ARAI-certified range of 230 km. The single electric motor of the Comet develops 31.26 kW (42 hp) and 110 Nm of torque. The vehicle offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The top speed is rated at 100 kmph.

Inside, the Comet gets a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls. The dashboard also sports a dual-screen set-up that houses two floating 10.25-inch screens. It measures under three meters in length (2,974mm), 1,640mm in height, and 1,505mm in width with a wheelbase of 2,010mm. The Comet rides on 12-inch alloy wheels.

Tata Tiago EV:

Tata Motors’ first electric hatchback, the Tiago EV, starts at Rs 21.99 lakh for the base XE (Medium Range) variant and goes up to Rs 27.99 Lakh for the range-topping XZ+ Tech Plus (Long Range) variant. The Tiago EV is available in five variants: XE (Medium Range), XT (Medium and Long Range), XZ+ (Long Range) and XZ+ Tech Plus (Long Range).

The Tiago EV is available in multiple combinations of battery packs and charging options including a 24kWh battery pack, delivering an ARAI-certified range of 315km for longer daily driving needs and a 19.2kWh battery pack for short and frequent trips, delivering an estimated ARAI range of 250km. The battery and motor also come with 8 years or 160,000 km warranty.

The Tiago EV offers a peak output of 45 kW – 49.01 kW (depending upon the variants) and an instant full torque delivery of 110 Nm / 114 Nm. The electric hatchback also comes with two driving modes – City and Sport along with four levels of regen settings in each drive mode.

Wuling Air EV:

The Wuling Air electric car is offered in two different variants, Standard range (200km) and Long range (300km), for Rs 20.99 Lakh and Rs 26.99 Lakh each, respectively.  The Wuling Air EV is being offered with a power/torque output of 30 kW/110 Nm and its LFP  delivers a range of about 200 km on the standard range variant and 300 km on the long-range variant. The standard model comes with a 17.3 kWh battery while the long-range version comes with a bigger 26.7 kWh battery pack.
