Ford has reintroduced the Figo automatic in the Indian market at a price of INR 7.75 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Figo gets the automatic gearbox in the Titanium and Titanium+ trim.  With this addition, the Ford Figo automatic will compete with rivals like Suzuki’s Baleno and Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, and Tata Altroz etc. that already have the option of automatic transmission.

The new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox on the Figo has been borrowed from the EcoSport, unlike the cost-effective AMT units. This transmission which is paired to the existing 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine only produces 96hp and 119Nm of torque, which makes the Figo more powerful than all its rivals. Ford Figo AT’s transmission also gets SelectShift feature and a sports mode. The SelectShift feature enables the driver to manually change gears using a toggle switch on the gearshift lever. Ford Figo AT claims to return a fuel efficiency of 16 km/l.

Commenting on the launch, Vinay Raina, Executive Director for Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, said,”Ford is committed to serving customers in India and is proud to introduce the world-class automatic technology for customers in the mass-market segment. With a proven legacy of outstanding performance, unmatched safety, superior technology and segment-best connectivity, we are confident that new Figo AT will be an automatic choice for several new buyers who don’t believe in look-alike automatics like AMT.”

As far as other features are concerned, the Ford Figo AT comes with 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers and remote keyless entry among others. However, it missed out on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features. Among safety features, the new Figo gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and hill-launch assist.
