Celebrating World EV Day 2021: All Electric Four-Wheelers Available In Nepal

Today is World EV Day and we at Nepal Drives are celebrating not just electric vehicles, but also sustainable energy and transportation. It is amazing to see how far EV technology has come in such a short amount of time. And we have compiled a list of all the electric four-wheelers available in Nepal.

e6

The BYD e6 is a pure-electric crossover SUV with superior interior space and other creature comforts.  Equipped with BYD’s UL-certified Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, BYD e6 is one of the safest electric vehicles in the world and has six airbags. According to the company, the e6 provides a range of 400 km on one full charge (WLTC cycle). The major highlights of the e6 are 450 Nm of torque, maximum power of 121 hp, regenerative braking system, cruise control, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, bi-directional charging and discharging, and 80% charging in 45 mins with the fast charger, etc. The e6 comes at a price of Rs. 50 lakhs.

New e6

The new BYD e6 comes equipped with a first-of-its-kind battery known as a Blade Battery, developed by BYD. The 71.7 kWh battery can be charged in 1 hour 30 minutes (with a fast charger) and can cover a total distance of 520 km on one full charge (WLTC cycle). The major highlights of the new BYD e6 are LED daytime running lights and LED rear combination lamps, peak power of 94 bhp and 180 Nm of maximum torque, leather seats, 6-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats, a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, 580-liters of boot space, and several safety features like airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Vehicle Dynamic Control System, Traction Control System (TCS), Hill-start assist, and Hydraulic Brake Assist System, etc. The new e6 comes at a price of Rs. 57.50 lakhs.

M3

The BYD M3 MPV is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants. Powered by BYD’s proprietary NCM battery with a capacity of 50.3kWh, this MPV features a 310 km driving range on a single charge (WLTP cycle). The battery life is 20 years with 4000 cycles and takes 1.5 hours to fully charge with a fast charger. The major highlights of the BYD M3 are automatic headlights with ‘follow me home’ function, front and rear fog lights, radio with AUX and USB port, automatic A/C, dual airbags, seatbelt reminder, anti-theft system, ABS with EBD, electric power steering, and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, etc. The M3 comes at a price of Rs. 43 to 46 lakhs.

T3

The BYD T3 is an all-electric two-seater delivery van fit for transportation and logistics delivery. The 50.3 kWh battery delivers 134 hp and 180 Nm of maximum torque. The BYD T3 has a top speed of 100 km/h and a maximum range of 310 km (GB/T 1 standards). Guobiao standards or GB standards are the Chinese national standards issued by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC), the Chinese National Committee of the ISO, and IEC. The T3 comes in at a price of Rs. 38 lakhs.

Hyundai

Kona Electric

Hyundai Kona price in Nepal starts at Rs. 56.96 Lakhs for the regular and goes up to Rs. 71.96 Lakhs for the long-range version. For the Regular range, both versions are powered by a Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The regular Kona electric generates a max power of 100 kW (120 PS) and a max torque of 395 Nm. It comes with a 39.2 kWh battery, capable of a 312 Km range. The Long Range generates a max power of 150kW (203 PS) and a max torque of 395 Nm. Furthermore, it comes with a 64-kWh battery, capable of a 482 Km range.

Ioniq Electric

The Ioniq is equipped with a 38.3 kWh electric motor with a battery power of 134 bhp and a maximum speed of 165 kph making it perfectly eligible for long drives which has a driving range of 311 km. The all-electric mobility reduces the moving parts and makes the vehicle run whisper quiet. The vehicle provides various comfort and convenience features such as an 8-inch floating touch screen, heated and ventilated seats, drive mode select, wireless phone charger, etc. This vehicle is loaded with safety features like a 7-airbags system, Hill Assist Control (HAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Rear Parking Camera, and Sensors. The Ioniq comes at a price of Rs. 57.96 lakhs.

Jiayuan Electric Vehicle

City Spirits

The City Spirits comes in at a price tag of Rs. 13.85 to 18.85 lakhs. The little EV comes with a range of 120Km and can be easily recharged. The two-seater Jiayuan City Spirits gets a Jeep-inspired grille and features a round headlamp with built-in indicators on its outer ends. The side and rear profile look somewhat similar to the already discontinued Mahindra Reva. It even gets a panoramic sunroof. To be available in two variants (Low Speed and High Speed), the rear-wheel-drive Jiayuan City Spirits features a 12V battery pack with 100Ah and 120Ah capacity. While the low-speed variant makes 4.2 Bhp of power, the high-speed variant produces 9.3 Bhp of power. The battery pack is a maintenance-free lead-acid unit.  The company claims a charging time of 6-8 hours. Claimed top speed is 75 km/h, and the range is 120 km. The City Spirits has a gradability of 20 degrees.

Kia

Niro EV

The Kia Niro EV comes with a massive 64kWh battery paired with an electric motor that powers the front wheels. The battery on the Niro EV gives a range of 450 kilometers which should get you from Kathmandu to Pokhara without any traces of range anxiety. The Kia Niro EV makes 201 BHP and 395 Nm of instant torque which propels the Niro EV from 0-100 Km/h in 7.8 seconds making it one of the fastest electric cars in the country. The Niro EV comes in at a price of Rs. 69.90 lakhs.

MG Motors

ZS EV

The MG ZS EV comes with a price tag of Rs. 50.99 lakh after the government revises duties on EVs. However, the price tag won’t include the 7KW AC charger which the manufacturer was offering earlier. The MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5kWh, liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, delivering a maximum range of 428 km on a single charge as per the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) and an 8 year or 150,000 km warranty in battery life. Power figures of the ZS EV stand at 148 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The ZS EV ensures safety with 6 airbags, features a premium panoramic sunroof and comfortable electrical adjustable seats, and a PM 2.5 air filter to purify the air inside the cabin. Besides that, it also features three driving modes and three levels of regenerative braking. It also gets an 8-inch touchscreen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The ZS EV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. The MG ZS EV has also scored Five Stars in the Euro NCAP rating.

Tata Motors

Nexon EV

The Nexon EV is available in three variants – XM (Rs 35.99 Lakh), XZ+ (Rs 37.99 Lakh), and XZ+ LUX (Rs 39.99 Lakh) and will come with a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000km (whichever is earlier) on the battery and 3 years 1,25,000 Km (whichever is earlier) on the vehicle. Nexon EV is equipped with a powerful and high-efficiency 127 bhp permanent-magnet AC motor powered by a high capacity 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The motor produces 245 Nm of instant torque from a standstill, enabling Nexon EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.9 seconds. The EV comes with best-in-industry dust and waterproof battery pack which meets IP67 standards.

Thee Go

E8

The e8 is the most popular offering from Thee Go. It is an automatic hatchback with 15 kW power and a top speed of 70 kmph. The car which can be charged under 5 hours with a 3 kW charger has an estimated driving range of 150 km. The e8 comes loaded with features like hill assist control, electrically controlled ORVMs, power windows, battery management system, 7-inch touchscreen system with Bluetooth connectivity, regenerative braking system, and many more.

Thee GO says the e6 minibus is a luxury commuter, redefined to provide maximum comfort, minimize costs, and neutralize carbon footprint. It comes with ample interior space, a large seating capacity, and an easy entry-and-exit sliding door, making it the ideal vehicle for transporting several passengers. The Thee GO minibus can be configured to have individual seats for up to 20 occupants (the configuration options include 14, 16, 17 & 20). It can be used as a fleet service vehicle, inter-city and intra-city travel, staff transport, airport shuttle, tourist vehicle, and school van, etc. The e6 is equipped with an 80 kWh battery and a range of 280 km.

Danfe

Thee GO Danfe microbus is a multipurpose electric microbus equipped with technologically advanced features and an ideal choice for fleet service, inter-city and intra-city travel, staff transport, school van, airport shuttle, tourist vehicle, etc. With a lithium iron phosphate battery of 42 kWh and a motor of 60 kW, the Danfe microbus bus can give a driving range of up to 250 Kms under normal operating conditions (NEDC 300 km). Thee Go says the cost of electricity for running the bus is only Rs. 1.6 per km which is approx. 80% less than the running cost of approx. Rs 9 per km of the equivalent diesel vehicle.

Nissan

Leaf EV

The Nissan Leaf EV will be priced at Rs 59.99 Lakh in the Nepalese market. The Nissan Leaf rivals the like of Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, and MG ZS EV in the Nepalese market. The Nissan Leaf will be available with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery that has a range of up to 311 kilometres on a full charge, based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards. The electric motor delivers 148 BHP and 320 Nm of instant torque. Similarly, the front-wheel-drive Nissan Leaf can go from zero to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 140 km/h.

Nissan says the Leaf can be fully powered up in 15 to 18 hours at home through a dedicated wall outlet with the supplied universal charging cable. Owners can also go to quick charging stations found in select Nissan dealerships nationwide and power up their car to a full charge in as fast as 40 to 60 minutes. More importantly, the Nissan Leaf comes with an e-Pedal technology that allows you to drive your car with a single pedal. The car will automatically decelerate when the accelerator pedal is released, implying reduced fatigue and enjoyable driving. This feature allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, and stop using just one pedal by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator.

Derry

EM7 Electric Solar Car

The EM7 is an electric solar vehicle that runs on both electricity and solar power as well. This one has a seating capacity for 5 passengers while is provided a big solar roof on the top. Powering the EV is a 17kWh battery along with a 15kW electric motor. The Derry EM7 provides a whooping range of 260 km while the mileage can further extend due to the solar roof used in the vehicle. Other additional features on the EM7 include Power Window, Hill Assist, Rear View Camera, Central Lock, Touchscreen Infotainment System, Alloy Wheels and, so on. The EM7 comes in at a price of Rs. 19.90 lakhs.
