Such special editions are more like a collector’s item and as well as it will make sure you go fast enough to smoke your opponent in a drag race. Ferrari has announced that its new limited-edition supercar is called the 812 Competizione, and it will also be available as an open-roof Competizione A model. The 812 Competizione is a more concentrated development of the 812 Superfast, as the name implies. A naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine produces 830 horsepower and 692 Newton-meters of torque on the inside. It has 30 horsepower more than the Superfast, but torque has decreased by 26 Nm.

The full horsepower is available at 9,250 rpm, but the twelve-cylinder engine can be revved all the way up to 9,500 rpm, making it the highest-revving Ferrari road car ever. So far, it seems that this would be the loudest Ferrari on the road. They have 176 pounds more downforce and an improved exhaust system than the stock 812 Superfast.

Equipped with optional features to lower weight as much as possible, the 812 Competizione tips the scales at 1,487 kilograms (3,278 pounds) before you start adding fluids. With so much power having to carry so little weight (for a V12 car), the coupe hits 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.85 seconds and completes the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) run in 7.5 seconds. Flat out, it’ll do in excess of 211 mph (340 km/h).

Then there’s the gearbox, a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic that has been recalibrated for the new application to reduce shift times by five percent. The gear ratios have been carried over from the regular Superfast, but Ferrari claims they’re now sportier after tweaking the iconic V12 to boast a maximum engine speed of 9,500 rpm.

The limited-edition cars will feature the seventh generation of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control (SSC) traction and stability control scheme, as well as rear-axle steering, similar to the stock 812 Superfast.

As compared to the 812, the use of carbon fiber both inside and out lowers overall weight, and a special aero package, which features vortex generators on an aluminum rear window replacement (the Competizione A uses an incorporated rear wing), improves downforce and gives it a wild appearance.

Ferrari used some high-tech tricks to boost output from the large engine, including replacing the usual steel connecting rods with lighter titanium units, adding diamond-like carbon to the piston rings to minimize internal friction, rebalancing (and shedding weight from) the crankshaft, and installing a new set of cylinder heads to make the pistons suck in the air more effectively. The 812 Competizione and Competizione A use a seven-speed transmission with a pair of clutches to easily change cogs, much as the other 812s, but shift times are now five percent faster.

According to Ferrari, all of this tinkering helps the 812 Competizione to reach 62 mph (100 Km/h) in just 2.85 seconds and completes the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) run in 7.5 seconds with the car eventually topping out at more than 211 mph (340 Km/h).

In Italy, the Ferrari 812 Competizione starts at €500,000, with the Competizione adding €78,000 to the price. Both supercars will be delivered early next year. There will be only 999 coupes and 599 convertibles made of the 812 Competizione, and obviously, they have all been sold out.
