Yamaha Motor Taiwan has launched the new Yamaha EMF, a futuristic-looking electric scooter with Gogoro-powered swappable batteries. The EMF is the second electic vehicle to be developed in collaboration with Gogoro.

Gogoro has established itself as a global innovation leader in compact electric propulsion, smart battery design, battery swapping, and advanced cloud services that utilize artificial intelligence to manage battery availability and safety.

The Powered by Gogoro Network Program gives partners like Yamaha access to the Gogoro’s Development Kit (GDK), that includes Gogoro’s intelligent drivetrains and controllers, components, and smart systems, so they can develop unique electric vehicles that integrate with Gogoro Network battery swapping. Hero MotoCorp has also partnered with Gogoro to develop electric vehicles and battery swapping infrastructure for the Indian market.

Yamaha EMF Electric Scooter: Design and Features

The Yamaha EMF electric scooter gets a seriously futuristic design. The EMF with its vertically stacked twin projector LED headlights, sleek apron panels and the afterburner-styled dual LED tail lights gives it a futuristic design, unlike anything Yamaha has built before. The EMF electric scooter is available in three colour options including Dark Black, Dark Green and Light Blue.

The EMF gets a fully digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and navigation, an NFC-enabled smart key feature, and other connectivity features.

Yamaha EMF Electric Scooter: Motor and Specifications

Yamaha EMF electric scooter’s mid-mounted motor generates 10.30 ps of max power at 3,000 rpm and 26 Nm of peak torque at 2,500 rpm. The EMF can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3.5 seconds.

The EMF sits on a lightweight frame with high torsional rigidity designed to achieve improved control and handling. Suspension duties are handled by upright front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are performed by 200 mm disc at front and 190 mm disc at rear. And it also comes with CBS for efficient braking.

Yamaha EMF Electric Scooter: Range

Although the company hasn’t revealed the range of the EMF, Gogoro’s hyper-efficient battery swapping platform with over 10,000 battery swapping GoStations at over 2,200 convenient locations in Taiwan shouldn’t be a problem for buyers.

The new Yamaha EMF electric scooter is priced at TWD 99,800 (approx. Nrs 4.28 lakh).
