Hyundai Nepal Focuses On EV Infrastructural Development & Service Setup

Laxmi InterContinental P. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai automobiles in Nepal, is betting big on the broad acceptance of electric vehicles in Nepal. The company currently sells the Kona and Ioniq electric cars in the Nepalese market, and both models have been widely accepted by car enthusiasts in the country. Both models have helped to established Hyundai as one of the biggest players in the Nepalese EV market within a short span of time.

With the government now waving off excise duties and revising custom duties on EVs, Hyundai plans to aggressively expand its EV portfolio. The company will now concentrate its efforts to invest extensively in the EV infrastructure, primarily charging platforms across the country, which will help accelerate the growth of EVs in Nepal.

Hyundai Nepal currently boasts of 21 charging points spread across different parts of the country where Hyundai owners will be able to charge their vehicles free of cost, while for EV brands, charging cost will differ as per charging points.

Hyundai’s charging points locations: LI Auto Services (Kupondole), LI Quick Services (Tinkune), Labim Mall (Pulchowk), New Shiva Service (Sinamangal), Hyundai Sales (Naxal), Hyundai Sales (Thapathali), Barahi Service Center (Pokhara), Bindhya Service Center (Pokhara), Pokhara Grand Hotel (Pokhara), Water Front Resort (Pokhara), Hotel Barahi (Pokhara), Jagat Motors (Bhairawaha), Siddhi Vinayak Service (Butwal), New Rider Service (Dang), HIM International (Nepalgunj), Dinesh 4 Wheels (Dhangadhi), Orchids Moto Corp (Birgunj), Royal Auto World (Biratnagar), Pathivara Auto Link (Itahari), Pinnacle Service Center (Bharatpur), Alliance Motors (Birtamode).

The company sees a lot of potential in the EV space and is counting on selling higher units of its EV portfolio. Keeping in mind the need to focus on developing infrastructure for EV, the company is also planning to install a substantial number of charging points across major cities and national highways of Nepal to make the EV journey stress-free. Laxmi Intercontinental P. Ltd. has a pan Nepal presence through 13 dealers and 17 Service Centers.
