BYD Dolphin

One of the most anticipated electric cars coming into our market in 2023, the BYD Dolphin has finally been launched in Nepal. The BYD Dolphin comes in a single variant and carries an aggressive price tag of Rs. 38.90 Lakhs.

The BYD Dolphin is the first model in BYD’s Ocean series to adopt the “Ocean Aesthetics” design concept. It’s built on the state-of-the-art BYD e-Platform 3.0. BYD’s revolutionary Blade Battery technology which comes as a standard in Dolphin offers drivers industry-leading safety levels and an extended single-charge range capability. Seres

Seres, a Chinese electric vehicle brand, has made its official debut in Nepal. MAW Vriddhi Autocorp, under MAW Group, is the sole authorized distributor of ‘Seres’ electric vehicles in Nepal.

Seres has entered the Nepalese market with two offerings, there is the Seres 3, an all-electric SUV that starts at Rs. 47.99 Lakhs, and the Seres Mini EV which starts at Rs. 13.99 Lakhs. The Seres 3 is powered by a 52.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and paired with a 99 kW electric motor. The Seres 3 claims an electric range of 405 kilometers on a full charge (NEDC).

The Seres Mini EV is currently the most affordable EV in Nepal. The Mini EV is offered in two IP67-rated Li-ion battery packs – 13.8 kWh (Base and Mid variant) and 16.8 kWh (Top variant). The 13.8 kWh battery pack delivers a range of 180 km while the latter provides a range of 220 km. Find out more about the Seres 3 and Seres Mini EV.

Tiago EV

Tata Motors has launched the Tiago EV at Rs.

The electric hatchback will be offered in multiple combinations of IP67-rated battery packs (water and dust resistant) and charging options including a 24kWh battery pack, delivering a Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) range of 315km for longer daily driving needs and a 19.2kWh battery pack for short and frequent trips, delivering an estimated MIDC range of 250km. The battery and motor also come with 8 years or 160,000 km warranty.

The Tiago EV offers a peak output of 45 kW – 49.01 kW (depending upon the variants) and an instant full torque delivery of 114 Nm. Moreover, the Tiago EV comes with 4 different charging solutions: a 15A plug point, a standard 3.3kW AC charger, a 7.2kW AC home fast charger which can add 35kms range with just 30min of charging, and DC fast charging which can add 110kms of range with just 30mins of charging and can charge 10%- 80% in just 57 mins. Skywell ET5

Skywell, a premium Chinese EV brand, that has a presence in more than 48 countries including Germany, Israel, Turkey, and Russia has begun its Nepal journey with the ET5 large-size electric SUV. The ET5 delivers a charge of 642 km (WLTP) on a single charge making it the highest-range EV in Nepal, claims the company.

Priced at Rs. 1.09 Crore, the Skywell ET5 gets an 85.9 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor to produce 150 kW and 320 Nm of torque. Similarly, it goes from 0-100 km/h under 7.9 seconds. The ET5 can be charged up to 80% in just half an hour using a fast charger. Find out more about the ET5 here.

MG Comet EV

MG has launched the cute little Comet EV in the Nepalese market. The Comet EV starts at Rs. 17.99 Lakhs and goes up to Rs. 20.99 Lakhs. The two-door Comet EV is equipped with a Tata AutoComp-sourced 17.3 kWh battery pack with an ARAI-certified range of 230 km. The single electric motor of the Comet develops 31.26 kW (42 hp) and 110 Nm of torque. The vehicle offers three drive modes, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport. The top speed is rated at 100 kmph.

The MG Comet EV gets an illuminating MG logo in the middle and an extended full-width LED light bar that sits above it. The illuminating logo also serves as a charging port. The rear, too, gets full-width connecting lights. Inside, the Comet gets a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls. The dashboard also sports a dual-screen set-up that houses two floating 10.25-inch screens. Find out more about the MG Comet EV here.

MG4 EV

In the Nepalese market, the MG4 EV will be offered in two battery packs: 51kWh and a bigger 64kWh; the former produces 134 PS (99 kW), while the latter produces 203 PS (150 kW). Both variants have a torque output of 250Nm and a single-motor, rear-wheel drive configuration. The smaller battery pack has a range of up to 350km, while the larger one has a range of 452km on the WLTP cycle. The MG4 EV can be charged with a 150kW DC charger. Prices are set at Rs. 41.49 lakhs for the former and Rs. 58.99 lakhs for the latter variant.

The MG4 is equipped with features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and ADAS, among others. It measures 4287mm long, 1836mm wide, and 1504mm high. It has a wheelbase of 2705mm and a boot capacity of 363 liters. Find out more about the MG4 here.

NETA U-Pro

CG Motors (the Sole authorized distributor of Hozon Auto in Nepal) has showcased the Neta U Pro electric SUV. This mid-range electric SUV comes with an 81.57 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor to produce 231 horsepower. The Neta U Pro delivers over 611 km on one full charge according to the NEDC test cycle. The electric SUV supports maximum AC charging of 7 kW as well as DC fast charging at a maximum rate of 150 kW.

Hozon Auto says, apart from the slew of safety features,  the Neta U Pro gets Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving features and an AI assistant. In addition, the Neta U Pro also uses the high-performance Automotive-grade Horizon Journey R3 AI chip. Find out more about the NETA U-Pro here.

Neta GT

CG Motors has showcased The Neta GT,  a sporty two-door four-seat electric coupe running on electric power with a range of up to 580km.

In the Chinese market, the Neta GT is available in two versions – RWD and 4WD. The RWD version will have a power output of 170 kW (231 hp). As for the 4WD version, its power output will be 340 kW (462 hp). Find out more about the NETA GT here.

Neta S

The Neta S is Neta’s first sedan. In China, the Neta S pure electric version comes with three range options. The first is a rear-wheel drive with a range of 715 km, the second gets a four-wheel drive setup with a 650 km driving range, while the standard trim has a 520 km range capacity.  The four-wheel drive trim is the most powerful with a peak power of 340 kW, and max torque of 620 Nm. It can also accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

With 13 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, five radar sensors, and two lidar units, the Neta S is said to be Level 4 capable when it comes to autonomous driving. Find out more about the Neta S here.

Maxus Mifa 9

Maxus has launched the Mifa 9 in the Nepalese market. The Mifa 9 is an electric MPV produced by SAIC Maxus. Priced at Rs. the Maxus Mifa 9 is the first fully electric premium MPV to go on sale in Nepal.

MIFA stands for Maximum, Intelligent, Friendly, and Artistic traits that the new electric MPV is supposed to convey. The Mifa 9 is larger than the Kia Grand Carnival and is powered by a 90 kWh Ternary Li-ion battery to deliver 180 kW (245 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. The MIFA 9 does 0-100km/h in 9.2 seconds and tops out at 180km/h. The 90kWh battery provides a travel range of 435 km (WLTP) and can be topped up from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Hyundai Exter

Hyundai has showcased the Exter micro-SUV. The Exter Micro-SUV will sit below the Hyundai Venue in the company’s lineup. The 5-seater car has a dimension of 3815 mm in length, 1710 mm in width, and 1631 mm in height. Hyundai says the Exter offers customers the best-in-segment wheelbase of 2,450 mm and the best-in-segment height of 1,631 mm.

The Exter comes equipped with a 1.2 l Kappa Petrol engine (E20 Fuel Ready) with 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) as the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and the i20. The Exter’s 4-cylinder, 1197 cc, petrol engine delivers 82 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of torque.

Hyundai has also equipped the Exter with advanced safety features including a Dashcam with dual camera (1st in Segment), TPMS (Highline) (1st in Segment), ISOFIX, Headlamp Escort function, Rear Parking Camera, and more. The Hyundai Exter will get 26 standard safety features available across all variants and as an option on entry trims (E & S). The Exter will be India’s first sub-4-meter SUV equipped with 6 Airbags (Driver, Passenger, Curtain, and side) as standard across all trims. Find out more about the Exter here.

Tata Punch:

Tata Motors Nepal has showcased its popular Micro-SUV – the Tata Punch, followed by a market launch around the festive season. The Punch sits below the Nexon sub-compact SUV in the company’s lineup and rivals the Hyundai Exter, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. Tata says the Punch will do 0-60kph in 6.5 seconds and 0-100kph in 16.5 seconds. While this engine already does duty on the Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz, in the Punch, it additionally features an automatic engine start/stop functionality to aid fuel efficiency. This results in an ARAI claimed fuel economy figure of 18.97kpl for the manual and 18.82kpl for the automatic variants. Find out more about the Punch here.
